I am so glad I read this. I thought I was the only one with the nurse curse. I had my pph done on March 30, 2015 and did not go back to work for 3 months. The pain and the rectal spasms were horrible. I continue to have problems. I am scheduled to have a traditional hemorrhoidectomy next week. Wish me luck!

how are you feeling now. I had pph 8 days ago today. No prolapse but I get this pulling feeling like my hemorroids are being sucked back up. But when I stand and wipe there is nothing. I also get this full filling in my bottom and it aches from time to time. Did this happen to you and how long did it take for full recovery

I had the procedure done 2 weeks ago on a Thursday. I went back to work the following Monday. An office job and I worked 10 hours that day. I took a pain killer the first three nights and not one since. First night I was up every hour to pee. I started walking on a treadmill the Sunday after. I'm itching to run and lift weights but I'm waiting for the checkup with my doc to major sure I'm ok. Wish I had the procedure done years ago.

It was not as horrible as some people has described. In fact, it was painless surgery for me. After reading this blog, I faced this surgery and found that there was not much pain involved in it.

After surgery when I woke up in bed, there was absolutely no pain and I enjoyed watching TV that evening. May be that was effect of anaesthesia. But I couldn't walk without support on first day due to weakness. On second day, I felt little pain but it was not too much to tolerate. Pain killers are good enough to suppress this pain. Just the weakness continued which I felt while getting up and walking. I got discharge on second day and went home.

Third day little pain continued but it was manageable with pain killers. While taking sitz bath on third day evening the cotton got used while surgery since it became wet. But there was absolutely no bleeding or not even a single spot of blood on the cotton.

On forth day morning I had bowel movement which I was expecting to be painful. But to my surprise it was not that horrible. It was similar pain as piles before surgery. There was no bleeding at all. It was very relaxing experience. I drove my car and attended office on forth day and I could work for whole day without any problem. The only difference was that I was slow while walking or any physical movement due to weakness.

On fifth day, I visited doctor for follow up checking. He mentioned that the wound is recovering, but still there is some swelling which may cause some pain for some more days. But start your all physical activities like jogging, exercise, working, etc. as normal as possible.

I stopped some pills and continued some as instructed and started my normal routine as there was no weakness after fifth day.

I am writing this on 10th day and except mild pain, I don't have any other problem. I am expecting this pain to go away after 14th day which will be full recovery. But as far as my daily routine is concerned, I guess I am recovered fully on sixth day.

My doctor told me that it takes 3 to 4 weeks to recover fully. But with the experience so far, I think it worth doing PPH than experiencing pain for lifetime. I am writing this in March 2016 and some of the responses were many years old. Hence there can be improvement in the technique also which was beneficial for me.

Hey there. I noticed this is over a year ago and I wonder how you are doing now? I am on 12 day post op and feel much better but wonder how long did you take laxatives for? I'm still taking miralax and stool softners and on very light diet. Pain is pretty much gone. I just feel tired and weak. Still scared to eat real food.

I had this done in 2006 and have suffered pain and require pain meds since, make sure you have a doctor who knows what he is doing , I was a guinea pig and I think he stapled my rectum to my spine, have had back pain and I have the constant feeling I need to have a bowl movement for 10 years. Saw another colon rectal surgeon for help and he said he could do nothing and this is why he doesn't do this procedure.

Hi folks!!
I'm 25, I suffered with grade 3 internal hemorrhoids over for 4-5 years. Finally consulted my Doc, he proficiently explained the types of surgical methods available.
Over all I felt STAPLED PPH is most effective for grade 3 ones,
I had an inner fear imaging too must about the surgery and read about it online , watched some videos of how the procedure goes in!!

Finally, my surgery date fell right front, I happily got operated for the same, it almost took 20-30min for surgery to remove 2 internal polyps successful!!
I was given anesthesia pre surgery to spine so, the numbness was present until 8-9hours! I could feel any below!
No pain as well!
18hrs after my surgery I had my first BM slight painful and felt like something cutting me live!! I was given anti bios and painkillers course for 2-4days and stool softner, mucus leaks in first week making you uncomfortable , could be managed using sanitary wipes or nappies
Until the skin around holds tight!
Sucrol ANO was suggested to make the surgical wound heal faster !

It's 15th day from the date of my surgery, I feel normal, I laugh I sneeze, I cough I sit tun and do weightless workouts prescribed by doc to make muscles move, walk after every meal! Take enough rest, reduce sitting still at one place, keep moving, you'll be fine!!
In most cases they go back to work within 10days, but if you feel prolonged pain after BM , sitz baths are must for least 5-10min , after every BM!

I took off from work for a month so that I could be fine and fit, which I already feel, just a little itchy sensation after morning BM , not bothering me much , gut is functioning well 2BM's a day is quite fine! Nothing to worry! Pins stapled inside would fall off unnoticed in 7-45days from surgery, you'll feel something holding up in while BM until then, but no repeated BM, it's just a sensation!! You could ignore and continue your daily works!
Outer pins usually fall off in a week !

Diet : iron rich - better as liquids or tonic as prescribed - since it's way to consume if you are anaemic and blood deficiency like below 10g./dl
You could have non veg meal twice in a week, priority of liver, bone marrow, and blood !
Fiber rich diet including lots of green veggies, spinach, walnuts, almonds,
bronchiole, fish, peas etc etc
Take lots of water after meal in more intervals and less water like 20 intervals in a day with 100-150ml water very hour, you'll fell better!!
Feed on fruit juices major in first week! Have a glass of hot water from 30min of your meal! Helps you to digest with ease!
Since you take too many tabs and anti bios, you feel it's too much heat in tummy!! Take the almond gel, soak in glass water , have it morning it absorbs most of your body heat!
Feed a lot on citrus foods,
Like orange , lemon, pine apple which has natural anti oxidants and helps you to absorb all minerals by body!

For young folks:
Sex, if it's priority for you !!
You could resume to normal life as I stated from 1st week of surgery,
Don't strain too much, more oral and less physical stretches!! Let your partner take the move!!

As it's my first surgery, I was too scared, I feel so great now!! Just take care of self , uncontrollable BM's in first week is quite common, if you are not on medics, don't feel ashamed, go for a checkup after 8th day of surgery to get inspect the inner surgical wound, removal of external pins if any!! I could say its the best option for grade 3 hemorrhoids !! Stapled PPH is Quite safe and less painful, you could bear it!!
