Hi folks!!
I'm 25, I suffered with grade 3 internal hemorrhoids over for 4-5 years. Finally consulted my Doc, he proficiently explained the types of surgical methods available.
Over all I felt STAPLED PPH is most effective for grade 3 ones,
I had an inner fear imaging too must about the surgery and read about it online , watched some videos of how the procedure goes in!!

Finally, my surgery date fell right front, I happily got operated for the same, it almost took 20-30min for surgery to remove 2 internal polyps successful!!
I was given anesthesia pre surgery to spine so, the numbness was present until 8-9hours! I could feel any below!
No pain as well!
18hrs after my surgery I had my first BM slight painful and felt like something cutting me live!! I was given anti bios and painkillers course for 2-4days and stool softner, mucus leaks in first week making you uncomfortable , could be managed using sanitary wipes or nappies
Until the skin around holds tight!
Sucrol ANO was suggested to make the surgical wound heal faster !

It's 15th day from the date of my surgery, I feel normal, I laugh I sneeze, I cough I sit tun and do weightless workouts prescribed by doc to make muscles move, walk after every meal! Take enough rest, reduce sitting still at one place, keep moving, you'll be fine!!
In most cases they go back to work within 10days, but if you feel prolonged pain after BM , sitz baths are must for least 5-10min , after every BM!

I took off from work for a month so that I could be fine and fit, which I already feel, just a little itchy sensation after morning BM , not bothering me much , gut is functioning well 2BM's a day is quite fine! Nothing to worry! Pins stapled inside would fall off unnoticed in 7-45days from surgery, you'll feel something holding up in while BM until then, but no repeated BM, it's just a sensation!! You could ignore and continue your daily works!
Outer pins usually fall off in a week !

Diet : iron rich - better as liquids or tonic as prescribed - since it's way to consume if you are anaemic and blood deficiency like below 10g./dl
You could have non veg meal twice in a week, priority of liver, bone marrow, and blood !
Fiber rich diet including lots of green veggies, spinach, walnuts, almonds,
bronchiole, fish, peas etc etc
Take lots of water after meal in more intervals and less water like 20 intervals in a day with 100-150ml water very hour, you'll fell better!!
Feed on fruit juices major in first week! Have a glass of hot water from 30min of your meal! Helps you to digest with ease!
Since you take too many tabs and anti bios, you feel it's too much heat in tummy!! Take the almond gel, soak in glass water , have it morning it absorbs most of your body heat!
Feed a lot on citrus foods,
Like orange , lemon, pine apple which has natural anti oxidants and helps you to absorb all minerals by body!

For young folks:
Sex, if it's priority for you !!
You could resume to normal life as I stated from 1st week of surgery,
Don't strain too much, more oral and less physical stretches!! Let your partner take the move!!

As it's my first surgery, I was too scared, I feel so great now!! Just take care of self , uncontrollable BM's in first week is quite common, if you are not on medics, don't feel ashamed, go for a checkup after 8th day of surgery to get inspect the inner surgical wound, removal of external pins if any!! I could say its the best option for grade 3 hemorrhoids !! Stapled PPH is Quite safe and less painful, you could bear it!!

I underwent surgery on October 9th

I had PPH surgery exactly 1 week ago. It's probably too soon to offer much perspective but so far so good. The procedure itself took 30 mins, I was sedated and had no memory or sensation of what happened after the anesthesia kicked in. I was walking around the recovery room not long after waking up and was able to walk out of the building post operation just fine.

For those of you worried about pain after reading all the horror stories of others, I can say it really hasn't been that bad. Immediately after the operation I felt some back pain but that went away pretty quickly as it may have just been due to my positioning on the operating table. Day 1 through Day 4 after surgery it is pretty painful during and immediately after a BM but the Vicodin and hot baths together keep the pain limited to a manageable dull ache rather than the excruciating pain others have described. I've been home the past week but plan on returning to work tomorrow, which my surgeon tells me is the timeframe most of his patients go back to work after getting PPH surgery. By Day 5 the pain is really only during BMs and even then it's not as bad as the first few days. And now it's more of a sore ache that goes away after an hour with or without pain meds, not really a sharp pain at all.

My advice to those on the fence about getting PPH is to not let fear of post operation pain be the deciding factor as the pain is both temporary and easily managed with hot baths and pain meds. By a week after the operation you'll be feeling much better then the first few days immediately after the procedure so just grin and bear it for a week and you'll be glad you did.

One more important tip, don't avoid going to the bathroom out of fear of it hurting. The drugs they give you and constipating so you probably won't go BM until the day after surgery, but eat plenty of fiber (Fiber One cereal is my recommendation) and drink plenty of water and coffee. Trust me, you don't want to get backed up for 3 days because the pressure on your bowels from not going is hurts more than just going BM and getting it done with. If coffee and fiber aren't enough then get some laxatives but don't wait too long after surgery to have a BM.

I had this surgery 3 days ago. I heard how painful it was but I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I have had no pain, no difficulty urinating or having a bowel movement. I did take stool softeners as prescribed and soon ended up with diarrhea. I took one Norco at the insistence of my husband as he was sure I was going to have pain once the anesthesia was warn off but truly think I would have been fine without taking pain med. I'm now awaiting the results of hemorrhoids disappearing. I read some of the comments and there are mixed reviews. I'm NOT lying when I say I had no, none, zero pain or problems.

i will share my thoughts on the topic, I had this procedure done on Dec 20th and I must say that while at the hospital didn't feel much pain once I worked up, the procedure itself was relatively quick. I was in the hospital at 8am home by 12:30, this is where the fairy tale ends. Once I got home and the pain meds where subsiding I began to feel tremendous pain and discomfort. unfortunately I was not one of the lucky ones with this procedure, although many in the medical field will say it's a cake walk, trust it is not by a long shot. In the midst of all this pain I just saying to my wife what did I get myself into. The biggest mistake I made was not researching this thoroughly, and even if I had I would of still gone through with but would have been better prepared to handle this, I was taking oxycontin 2 pills every 4 hours which helped for about 90 mins, so you can just imagine what was went through the remaining 150 mins. With all the pain meds I was taking which didn't help they caused constipation which is a common problem with this type opioid pain medication. Which brings me to my next problem. 12/27 I was back in the hospital apparently my stitches had ruptured from trying to have BM and I began to bleed profusely, so I am now in the ER going through another procedure to get stitched up again, I didn't my first BM until 15 days after my initial 12/20 procedure and be prepared becuase the first time you go will be your most painful, by the way I forgot to mention that I was also taking stool softener and Miralax and no thing worked could go. However I had no problem uriinating, Meanwhile back at the ranch after that first BM which by the way did I mention it was painful, the rest still painful but not as bad. My family and went through a very difficult time since they had to indure watching me go through this. So fast forward 1/20 it's been exactly one month since my first procedure, still hurts when I have a BM, and my Dr prescribed analpram cream to help reduce swelling, yes 4 weeks after still not healed. Sitz baths helped tremendously 2 -3 times a day. STRONGLY recommended. I am looking forward to putting this behind me ( no pun intended ) my Dr tells me it could any where from 4-6 weeks depends on the individual. One thing for sure I find it hard to comprehend how anyone is able to go back to work in 2 weeks considering what's involved and the pain management. So once again I was not one of the lucky one but this will not be cake walk so be prepared.
Your other option is to continue living your life with Hemms and that not living. So when all is said and done I would recommend it but it will not be a walk in the park.

I'll make it very short - if any one is doing this surgery please read carefully what I am going to write, he/ she will manage the post operation pain very easily . I had the surgery exactely a week ago . I suffered the most painful moments in my life but I am glad I done it . I red through theses forums and I can certainly affirm that the golden rule to end these suffering for 99.99% of patients who commented on these forums ( I wished I knew before the surgery ) - here we go, learn from my experience . The golden rule is : whenever you have the first BM , - it could take up to 4 days after the surgery or at least it was in my case ) go to the bathroom and DO NOT BE AFRAID TO PUSH , YOUR BRAIN WILL TELL YOU NOT , FIRST BECAUSE OF THE PAIN And SECOND BECAUSE YOU MIGHT THINK YOU COULD BREAK SOMETHING - NO YOU WONT -JUST PUSH AND GET IT OUT . ALSO , DONT JUST LAY DOWN AFTER THE SURGERY , MOVE , MOVE ,MOVE . This was my major mistake that caused me tremendous suffering until I seen the doc again and he told me to push during BM and walk a lot .hope this helps

I had mine done at Duke Wednesday, today is Friday. I had grade grade 2 prolapsing internal hemorrhoids. I had tried and failed on an IRC " burn treatment" at another hospital. I couldn't tell the IRC had any effect at all. I had this tissue that would prolapse every time I would defecate. After I was finished cleaning myself, I would stand up straight and take one or two steps and the tissue slipped back inside. This had been going on for well over a decade. This tissue never gave the slightest pain or itch as some people have. The reason I wanted the tissue removed is it was so difficult to clean. After I had finished passing my stool, I was left with a very soiled "blossom" of tissue to clean. It was a lot of loose tissue and it was mucous membrane, so I couldn't use toilet paper. I had to use a water jet from a bidet. I couldn't have existed without my bidet. It is built into my toilet and part of the plumbing. It had to be "blasted" clean with the water stream, and it was absolutely necessary to digitally massage the tissue so that the water jet could do its job. I am sure if I did not do this, I would have had itching and probably pain. So it was entirely a hygiene problem, but managing it was so difficult and took so much of my time. I had to take wet paper towels with me when I would leave the house to go to the backroom. I always needed a lot of clean water and wet towels to clean. The surgeon prescribed oxycodone 5mg immediate release and said to take 1 or 2 for pain. I had some pain the afternoon of surgery, but It only took one tablet every 4 hours to manage it. I also had a little trouble urinating about 3am the first night I was at home. I took another oxycodone and got into a hot bath, with no soap. I relaxed for about 15 minutes and the discomfort resolved and my urine passed out just great. Under the circumstances, I released the load into the bath water and showered off. I had little or no pain all day yesterday (day 2), but I took a couple of the oxycodone pills last night because I felt that I might need to defecate. I wanted to have medication in case it was painful. But the urge resolved and I went to sleep without defecation. I woke up this AM (day 3) and felt the urge again, so I went, no medication, to the toilet. I expelled the cotton packing, and the urge went away. It was a few hours later that the urge came back and I passed a normal amount of stool. I was careful not to strain and just let my body's normal pushing to take it away. It was slightly painful, but not enough to complain about or take a pill. I had another movement later today and it was a little more painful so I took a pill and that's how I am now. I have a little makeup mirror belonging to my wife and I squatted over it to see it. It looks great. After defecation, the anus looks so much like an * . That is what a healthy anus should resemble. I can see the pleats and it's 360 degrees almost symmetrical. It looked nothing like this before. And I a comparing it to how it looked when it was cleaned and the prolapsed tissue was back inside my body. It is so great. It's a great feeling to not have a diseased looking anus. No one sees it except my wife, but I'm so proud of what the surgeon at Duke did for me. I'm very happy with the results. I know it's a little too soon to tell long term, but I have read that this surgery called PPH, is very effective, has very low pain, and rarely needs to be repeated. I believe it. It is good surgery in the hands of a good doctor. I have read that the success rate is mostly dependent upon the skill of your surgeon. Make sure you get a good surgeon who has done it many, many times before and has a good reputation and training. If you get in at a place like Duke, that is a given. I hope this helps someone know what to expect. I would suggest that when you experience the urge to defecate, allow the urge to continue. But don't try to assist defecation by pushing or straining yourself. Let your body use its automatic peristaltic waves to get the job done. It is slower, but you won't have to worry about tearing up anything that has not completely healed. That is what I am going to do. I am so happy, I do not want to do anything that might lead to failure, and it by my fault.

I had PPH Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy procedure this past Tuesday, Nov.14, 2017. I am 57, male and have endured hemorrhoids since my 20's while working as a laborer lifting heavy loads. I was also not good at diet either. Anyway...fast forward to the last few years, after banding and years of home remedies I gave up. My internals went to grade 3 and 4 and the leakage was so bad that I had to wear sanitary pads daily. I had to do something so I started looking and chose this procedure based on the recovery time. It's Friday, 4 days post surgery and its been quite interesting. First off I started backing off on pain meds day 2. I have a history of constipation and take blood pressure and asthma medicine daily so I needed to ween myself asap. It has been a bit painful and irritating but not what I would have thought after a major procedure. on a level of 1-10 my pain level is about a 5 when I get distressed (sitting too long, pooping too long).  As with many, I had issues with urination. I'm a guy so what helped me was to turn a faucet on and close my eyes for a minute standing up. That helped get the flow going for me. Never needed a cath. I also noticed once I began evacuating that I could urinate much easier after a BM while sitting. The BM's are very small and many. After a small meal (1.5-2c) with a glass of water I poop 5 or 6 times to evacuate the same amount I just took in. Believe me, its gotten down to that type of math. The poop I have on day 4 is the size of a cheetos and I manage 2 or 3 per sitting. I tried to go to my office yesterday and today but only managed about an hour yesterday and the same today. I had to poop so much I just came home! I definitely plan on taking it easy this weekend and keeping to a small diet. Besides supplemental fiber and lots of water I am taking 3 stool softeners a day and my meals are flax cereal and milk for breakfast with half a cup of coffee and a juice, whole grain bread with vegetable soup for lunch and a bottle of water and dinner is a mixed green salad with avocado and chick peas and a bottle of water. Snacking is nonexistent!

everyone will have a different experience with this procedure.ersonally, i had hemorrhoids for about six years and i am now 22. they started out as extermal and small, i had a thrombosed hemorrhoid about 3 years ago but didnt have any insurance to take care of it. i eventually didnt have many symptoms, i used cream every now and then. i got insurance finally, and decided to go to the doctor. he said my only option was to have the pph surgery, so i agreed. i was an outpatient surgery, it was done in about an hour, i was in recovery and didnt feel much, the nurse peeked a bit at my bottom and sent me back to my room. i was given water and crackers and i got up to go to the bathroom, and i felt something go down my leg. the nurse noticed it and i tried to go to the bathroom but continued to bleed and they notified my surgeon. i had to go back into surgery to find the source of bleeding to stop it. i received stiches in a section of the staple line. the worst pain i have ever been in ever in my life... i know this sounds like another horror story but everyone deserves to know the risks of it. its been anout 2 1/2 months after and i am still not completely back to normal, im still restricting myself with lifting. by choice. i was told 2 weeks and i could go back to work. and i did, ive just been almost useless and some days are way better than others. i do have hope though, that i can fully recover. im still making lifestyle changes including my diet. good luck to anyone else that is having this done.

It has been 2 months since I had PPH surgery. My bowel movements are normal (not constipated) with the use of softeners. My movements are more painful (burning), and there is occasional blood on the toilet paper. Is that normal?
