5 years ago i went through this pain in my upper abdomen and lot of acid reflux. my first doctor back then said it was only GERD so i took medication, it calmed the stomach pain but the reflux kept goin through the years. now the pain in the stomach has comed back like before and the reflux did as well. Ive gotten 2 ultrasounds done (gallbladder looked good), 2 EKG's heart looks good, Upper GI had a mild small instestinal inflamation, endoscopy - everything looks good except i have a small haital hernia which contributed to the reflux, all blood work is good except high cholesterol which im taking liptrol and im on a low fat diet and do some excerise because of my stomach pain, urine looked good, so now my doctor told me the gallbladder needs to come out because it has a very low function, now my question is within 5 years if the gallbladder was bad back then why did it calm down and resurected again 5 years later, does the gallbladder calm down and have attacks every so often?. what causes a low function gallbladder? my best bet is to remove it and lower my cholestrol , also reduce my weight becasue i am overwieght . im a 35 years old male that weighs 255 pounds which i know is not healthy, has anyone had problems with a removed gallbladder before, How much of my life is goin to change without it? thank you

My gallbladder stopped working in 1996 and I had it removed. I had been on Nexium to control reflux for about a year. I have had no problems other than I still have to take the Nexium for reflux. Removing it was the best thing for me. However, I still cannot get an answer as to why my gallbladder just stopped working. At the time of removal I was 35 years old and weighed about 145. After surgery, I had more energy to exercise and lose the extra weight I had gained from pregnancy. I wish you the best.
