Hi. Our baby girl was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at birth. The doctor told us that diagnose but we want to be sure. We heard there are few methods how hip dysplasia can be diagnosed so we want to seek second opinion. What is your advice regarding this problem? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hip dysplasia can be diagnosed shortly after a child is born. That can be done by careful examining and testing the hips. My advice is to try ultrasound to diagnose it. X-rays are not really used in young babies to avoid exposure to the radiation. An ultrasound would be a more likely choice. An x-ray does not show the bones in a young baby until at least 6 months of age, and therefore a hip ultrasound is preferred. The doctor may consider additional testing if it's indicated.
