Come on now... a mom is a mom whether she speaks Spanish or Polish or Greek. She was a young girl at one time and she obviously had her period. Just tell her, she will understand. "Mom, i started my period in school today" done. Trust me, she will get it.

Well,
This is a little strange question to be honest. Your period has several more words that you can use to describe the process, and I am not sure for Spanish but I believe that this goes same for Spanish as well. Menstrual cycle or menstruation is one way to say it in English. You mother will understand this believe me, she has been through it and she is probably still going through it. Just be clear to tell her this before things get complicated, she can help you with certain things if you don’t know how things work. I hope that you will manage to communicate with your mother.
All the best,
Nelie
