Hello, guys. A bump has recently showed up on my face. My friend that studies medicine told me that it looks like keratoacanthoma, but he is not sure. I would like to know how this benign skin tumor is diagnosed. This piece of information will be very precious for me. Thanks in advance.

Hello to you too. I think the best way to be sure that it is keratoacanthoma is to go to the dermatologist. Only a proper examination can make you be certain. They will cut a bump and send the specimen to the pathology. Pathologist is the only one who can give you an exact diagnose. Keratoacanthoma looks similar to squamous cell carcinoma, especially in the beginning, so it is better to exclude this condition. In some cases, even pathologist can't make difference between these two tumors. In any case, go to your doctor. He will tell you what to do further. Good luck!
