After an airway obstruction that caused very obvious problems with breathing in, my grandad, age 68 and a former smoker was diagnosed with stage II squamous non-small cell carcinoma. Our doctors are telling us we’re lucky the cancer is diagnosed in an early stage, but from the looks of it, it has already spread to some lymph nodes. Grandad is scheduled for surgery in May and we all hope for the best, but after the post-op recovery he is also scheduled for chemotherapy course he is not really glad about. I know there is a little choice in such a serious condition, but how will chemotherapy help him once squamous non small cell carcinoma is removed?
