How long do I wait after varicocelectomy to masturbate?

It's been eight days since I had my bilateral surgery.  I'm seeing that I am not the only one who had a longer recovery than expected.  I was pretty much immobile for the first three days.  No chance of working.  I couldn't take regular strides when walking until about a week later.  The doctor told me ten days until I could have sex again.  I'm not going to try to do anything before then.  I still have swelling in my testicles, and the electric shock kind of feeling that someone mentioned above is present when I sneeze/ cough.  It's very painful. 

My suggestion, ask a doctor about when you can resume sexual activity. If you want to know about when you can masterbate, I understand that is embarrassing... maybe email a general MD website or something. 

ok, i had an op on tuesday (is now monday), not sure what kind it was (think it was laproscopic) but i have two cuts, one belly button and one on my right abdomen (left varicocele though)anyway needless to say ive been waiting to tug one out and couldnt bear it so bit the bullet this morning.no swelling so far but...

since about thursday the area just above my left thigh has been slightly swollen and i can 'feel' swollen feeling 'pipes' sort o pressing up like theyre inflated, i assumed this was to do with the op as they seem like the lead to my balls so go figure.but literally as soon as i finished, they went away and the pain and swelling above my thigh stopped completely so im not sure if its like they were clogged up an needed a flushing out or something but so far masturbating has been beneficial.ill edit this later if there is any swelling or bad effects.

as of this morning the varicocele hadnt gone away physically however from what i have seen it can take several weeks as swollen vessels arent gonna suddenly shrink and stay that way immediatley.

Not true most of the population of men have it its just not as bad

I had bilateral varicoclectomy for grade 3 varicocle in inida a week ago..today while watching a roomantic movie i ejaculated without masturbating..but immediately after ejaculation my testicles swollen which is very painfull to touch..i remember this is the same as ur condition..what happened to u after that ..did the swelling and pain got down ?..please reply..i am very nervous

i think you should take Anti-inflammatory i had the same issue and when i took the tablets the pain goes away

i had my Varicocele surgery 3weeks ago, after 2 days I was discharge to the hospital and my surgeon advice me to have 14days rest at home. On the thiird day of my surgery I was able to have a bed rest even though it is hard to walk a little. My surgeon advice me to have a hot compress to relax my left testes, My doctor prescribe me a pain reliever 'Dolcet & Hemorid for the vein, so far I feel good, but when It comes for MASTURBATE i don't want to try , need at least 4 weeks to rest but after 2 weeks I had my Wet dream, but I dont Try to Masterbate again till to consume my medicine, I will resume to work as Medical sales representative. but need to remember not too much of walking, standing & lifting a heavy things.

Don't do it!!!!!!!!! I had a varicocelectomy done 3 weeks back. On Saturday I pleasured myself. Worst thing ever! I slept in hospital for 3 days on constant medication. Don't do it!

What surgery did they do to fix the post op problem? Was it an easy fix?


My right where the stich where has hardened after ejaculating 2 weeks after surgery. It is now hurting so bad. left seems normal.

I had the varicocectomy surgery 7 days ago and now I'm feeling comfortable but there is a slight pain when I touch the wound and the place where the varicose veins were. my left ball got swollen only till day 5 and now it's close to normal. the doctor told me no sex and no masturbation for 2 weeks and he is the best doctor in the country so guys to be on the safe side wait for 2 weeks and if u still feel uncomfortable and u had sex after 2 weeks and ur balls got swollen then review ur doctor cz there is a problem cz it's not normal.

I had varicose surgery 2 weeks ago and after reading some of these posts im nervous about masturbating, i was wondering if anybody had masturbated after 2 weeks and not suffered any consequences?

I had my bilateral vericocelectomy three days ago and thus far all is well.  It is really hard for me to think aobut masterbating or sex.  Even though I am not in pain I know that the area is still really sensitive and wouldn't wan to chance it.  Occassionally one of the stitches pokes my penus and that along is uncomfortable.  Believe me, the two weeks wait is minimal to reinjury.  Please, ask your doctor every question you have, if you are not pleased with the response get a second opinion each person is different in how they respond to surgery and procedure.

Had my surgery 7 days ago.. On the 6th day I woke up hornier than hell from a near wet dream I had that night before.  I tried to resist the urges but gave in thinking that maybe it would help with the swelling and releive a little pressure out of the spermatic chord.

Well what happened next is probably EXACTLY why they tell you to wait: Immediately after ejaculating I broke out in a cold sweat and had an extremely strong sea sick feeling and used every urge I had not to puke..

Before all of you think I am a m***n (which I will absolutely agree with), my doctor, like a few others on here, didnt tell me sh*t

Now my left nut is sagging lower than ever, about to hit the floor, and everything still is very sensitive and swollen
