How long does methadone stay in body?

I worked for a company that in the initial test for highering they do a hair sample test as well as a urine test and when these tests are completed by an outside lab they have to first contact an MDO which will contact you directly to verify the prescription and if you can validate it (it's legal) they are not allowed to inform the H.R. or anyone in that company of that finding! Now here is the GRAY area in some states- if you are on the job and there is an accident and you are sent to an emergency department for the drug screen because of the accident they will SKIP the mdo( or whatever it is called in your state- an independant lab with dr,s to verify valid prescriptions) and give the H.R. department the exact findings! If this ever happens to you leave your facility without giving any information and immeadately call the department of human relations because it is ILLEGAL!!! Specifically for nyone methadone maintance it is a violation of your hippa rights!!!

do not believe these comments. it takes way longer than 5 days. i was at the methadone treatment too, i am STILL testing positive for methadone and i quite 6 and half weeks ago. i am thin and ride bikes all day. so the 7 day, bs is just that...bs... be careful!!

Have at least 12 yrs experience in laboratory and also have had to use up to 20mg daily due to severe and complicated spinal surgeries consisting of 12 total fused vertebrae. Due to metabolism, weight, height, additional use of vitamins and other meds(not even narcotics) I would not take a chance at urinalysis unless I was not using methadone for at least 21 days. I guess it can depend on how bad you want that specific job.

Unfortunately there are exceptions to comment. I admitted to taking up to 15mg prescribed and 45 flexeril prescribed due to 12 fused/rods and screws plus other trauma and surgeries on a mandatory urinalysis to work as a lab assistant in a hospital. I had 8 yrs experience and completed 150 out of 150 accurate and acceptable needle sticks was not hired. They were desperate for three more lab assistants or techs but they did not want me as an employee. I have excellent references from surgeons also where I did surgical first assistant in a trauma operating room for 10 years. I have full disability and cannot liftuch more than ten pounds on a regular bases but the lab assistant tray only weighs about four pounds. That is why after getting a disability ruling I went back to school to get a medical job that I could physically do. I don't look or walk like I'm handicapped, knew high rank personnel at the hospital and attractive.( so most say) .I'm 5'5" and 120lb. I was never given a reason other than they had other applicants more fitting for the job. Exceptions to every single rule. Hospital has a non acceptance of illegal drugs and nonprescribed drug policy but not one of prescribed drug.

I go to a suboxone doctor and I took a methadone 40mg Friday March 1, 2013. I haven't taken one in a very long time. I go to the doctor Thursday March 7th.. Will it be out of my system??

 

you are right i took 100mg 3 weeks later i tested positive fact not guess work and they all test for methadone every 3 days it drops  in half example 100 to50 to25 to12.1 to 6.5 to3.25 to1.75 tohaif to half to half ever3 days what i have shown is a total of 27 days 

doctow, you are absolutely 100% correct about methadone and metabolytes of methadone being detectable in a urine screen up to 10 days later. Some of the earlier posts are absolutely way off base with a 3-5 day clearance. Methadone, especially liquid, has an extremely long half-life of approximately 51 hours for a 30-50mg dose once or twice a day. I'm truly amazed some people who have posted on various methadone forums make claims to be on 400+mg a day. This is total nonsense!! Even in opiate tolerant patients, this amount would cause severe respiratory depression likely to the point of death without hospitalization and a ventillator along with opiate cleaning medicationjs such as Nalproxone. I really want those who are new to Methdone or non-opiate tolerant, obtained illegally DO NOT exceed 60mg a day in tablet form since most people do not ingest methadone tablets correctly. Methadone tablets are to be dropped into a glass of water, juice, etc. stirred and dissolved as much as possible, then drink the liquid. Taking 10mg methadone tablets give a bioavailabilty of approximately 25%-40%, while liquid methdone provides a bioavailabilty of approximately 70%-80%.I've been at this a long time and there isn't an ethical, competent physician or PM doctor that would prescribe much more than the theraputic dose of 60-100mg a day taken in divided doses about 6 hours apart. For those of you who don't know what they are doing with methadone (or any other strong opiate) don't play with your life. I should add that if you are using opiates daily for recreational purposes and do not have a true, severe, chronic pain condition, that once you cant get it anymore, for whatever reason, after about 48 hours, prepare yourself for the horrific withdrawal you WILL experience. Let's take a look at the symptoms: nervousness, near non-stop sneezing, watery eyes, nausea, vomiting, severe diarhea, total insomnia, either too hot or too cold, severe depression, loss of appetite, cramps, irritability, total lack of motivation, never satisfied with where you are such as lying down or sitting up- you'll go back and forth dozens of times a day, poor decision making, missing work or school, avoiding other people, headaches, cold and clammy skin, severe sweating, poor hygiene, agoraphobia (not wanting to go outside or leave your home), electrolyte imbalance due to vomiting/diarehea..the list goes on. When I first started PM, due to a near fatal car accident and accompanying physical injuries/pain, I used to say, "Well, I'll take 4 today and cut back to 3 tomorrow." Didn't happen and I found myself out of Oxy with a week to go. I will end with this. Methadone withdrawal is 10X worse than OXY withdrawal. If you use it recreationally, STOP.

i have been of for 7 days then just took one 10 mg pill,will it be out of my body by monday

 

I've just tested positive 13 days after my last dose!

I came straight off of 15ml liquid methadone 14 days ago(my decision, the drug unit I attend wanted me to either go to a residential detox for 3 months or reduce by 1ml every 2 weeks but I was ready now) I've tested positive with a very dark line which has made my support worker think I've been buying methadone on the sly!! When I go back next week I'm going to demand he google the subject while I'm there! It's disgusting that I've been made to feel like I've been up to no good when I've got myself clean after 5 years of taking 100ml of methadone daily! I've barely eaten or slept in 2 weeks!!

10 days later after taking ONE 10 mg still failed 10 panel urine test

I take methadone and rxicodone for medical reasons. I started a new job a while back and was fired for failing for methadone. I knew the drug test was coming so I stopped taking the roxies and any took 10 mg of methadone as couple days before the test. I even went out and bought the drink from gnc that masks your test results. I've used the drink many times over the years for medical marijuana and always passed. The stupid folks at labcorp sent out results about 5 days later to my employer saying I failed for methadone. I was fired immediately so I explained I had legal prescription and went and got my bottle out of the car and showed it to the owner. It did no good. Shortly after labcorp called and said they suspected I had a prescription due to the amount in my system. I faxed a copy of my pharmacy records and they sent out a updated results to my employer saying I did not fail. It did no good. The employer said even though it said I passed in the column that shows how much was in my system it still showed it in my system. Basically LabCorp screwed up and cost me s $40k job in a $15k area. I haven't found a decent job since so I am working for 10k a year part time. The disabilities act doesn't help either in some states and you probably have to gt an expensive lawyer also. Labcorp will not let you inform them upfront about your legal prescriptions either. At least not here. I took a ten panel BTW.

i took Methodone for 24 hour about 9 pills 10 mg and stopped all completly to get off the opiates the pain management had me on, I went 14 days after I took my last methodone pill and came up positive on a prelimanry test so why did that happen

I hope you are right about this. I had a job interview and was told they would want me to take a drug test if they should hire me. I'm worried because i'm quitting a job i've had for 10 years for this one. Better pay, nicer company, however, they said ONCE they hire me they request drug screening. I'm worried they will find methadone. I don't not want to tell them, it's personal. and how can you be so sure about the methadone out of your body after 72 hours?

get a lawyer.what they did was illegal. methadone is a med like insulin.
