I am 35 years old and I would like to say that obsessive compulsive disorder is my only problem, but it is not so. I have to deal with kleptomania also now and that is really annoying. The only good thing is that my problem is focused only on pens, but I am not certain for how long that will last. Anyway, how is kleptomania diagnosed, what are the therapies?

As for the diagnosis, it is fairly easy. Usually, the patient feels tension before the act and a sense of relief while performing the theft. And the good thing is, things stolen are really small and not that significant (pens, remotes, paper clips...). Some don't even remember the act itself! Anyway, there are some treatments and is looks like the medication naltrexone has shown great success in subduing the theft urge.
