Hi,

I’ve been suffering from high cholesterol and triglycerides for last few years and before I started lovastatin (Mevacor) I was on Tricor. I had to stop taking it because it made me really nauseous all the time, even though it worked great on lowering my triglyceride levels. However, over the few months I was off all meds, my cholesterol spiked and I ended up on Mevacor.

I know that statin medications like lovastatin can cause various side effects, but can it be responsible for my constant headache?

Hello,

lovastatin might be responsible for your constant headaches - and this is something you should tell the doctor who prescribed you this medication, but there is also a chance that your headaches are caused by something else.

Are you taking any other medication alongside lovastatin? It's possible that some of them interact with lovastatin and make the headaches even worse. There is also a chance that lovastatin isn't the right medication for you and that you'll better tolerate some other statin medication.
