I know that some amount of skin thinning is normal and perhaps even inevitable with age. Still, there are many things that you can do to improve cell turnover. I am wondering if any of those things actually do thicken the skin?
My skin is looking a bit thinner and of course I looked up treatments. Treatments that I found out about are:
- Flax seed oil
- Fish oil supplements
- Many people will suggest biotin, which I was also thinking about
- Hyaluronic acid
Any others I should know about? And for those who have tried the above, do they actually work?

Hey,
Are you looking for anecdotes (anecdata, LOL), or are you looking for scientific evidence? If the latter, I'd suggest that you get onto Google Scholar or Pub Med and find out for yourself. Just search whatever term plus "skin", and results will either come up, or they will not.
If you're looking for anecdotes, flax seed oil is certainly good for the skin, but I am not sure if it thickens it. I have used it to moisturize on occasion, and it seems to be slightly too light for my dry skin. Vitamin E oil is another good one that you didn't mention that DID help me a lot. I am not sure if my skin is "thin" or not, except for the dark circles I have under my eyes and my skin dopes appear to be thin there, but the vitamin E oil seemed to help across the board.
