.....I cannot believe their is a guest on here that so ignorantly shames someones thoughts on the subject that in reality.......are correct and facts. The american medical association classifies alcohol and drug addiction AS A DISEASE. yes this is a fact. Since 1956 its been classified as a disease in fact. The person made choices that in turn caused them to have a brain disorder in which in many cases the power of choice is then taken away. Not everyone is an addict....some just make poor choices, but there are also many true addicts. The addicts consumption is no longer a choice because the drug has now altered their brain chemistry in such a way that using the substance triumphs all other necessities.
Trying and using drugs with a sane mind is absolutely a choice and sometimes just a little more discipline is needed. But if you are struggling with trying to use drugs or alcohol on a less frequent occasion or find that it enters your thinking on a regular basis, the best thing would to refrain from any non medical drug use...for an extensive time probably.
Addiction is not fun....ITS A MENTAL ILLNESS, and in many cases people do not EVER recovery from addiction.

So be safe!!!! Be informed!!!! Don't ignore the warning signs !!!

It is a choice at first but once you've made this decision your body wants more and more and eventually you feel like you can't live without it in which most cases, people would view it as a disease. Don't be ignorant
