I am just recently diagnosed with diabetes and since it is so bad, I have to take insulin to manage my blood sugars.  Yah for me :(   So now I notice that there are times that I have symptoms for hypoglycaemia and it is worrying me much.  I can be sitting in class and all of a sudden I feel groggy and listless.  I'll get shaky and feel anxious and also sweaty.  Then I have to get up and leave class, bumping into the door on the way out, and work my way to the vending machine.  Once I get a candy bar, and eat it, I finally feel better, so I know it is my blood sugar and that it went very low.  What if this happens when I am driving?  This would not be good because by the time I pull over to get something to eat, I may have already passed out!  Has anyone else had this problem or ever had it happen ot you ?  Have you had an accident when it happened?

Hello, Guest.  I see that you are worried about having hypoglycemia while driving and causing an accident.  There are things you can do to help this.  You can make sure you have eaten something before you drive. Ensure that you eat the carbs you have allotted yourself for the day.  You can also bring a snack with you and keep it on you so that if you are feeling like you are going into a hypoglycemic episode, you can pull over and eat it.  Then when you feel better, you can resume driving.

Are there any type 1 or type 2 diabetics that would like to share their ideas on how they avoid hypoglycemia while driving?  What would you do when getting groggy at the wheel?
