I take the adderall as directed. I went to the doctor and told him about my hectic life with a husband, 3 children, and a house. Plus I am trying to work part time. He said well here is this medicine, it will help you concentrate. But now that I know it is a narcotic, I live with guilt on my mind everyday. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi bsailer, I can tell you that it does help you concentrate if you happen to have ADHD but if you don't then I think that it might help you to take something else. I don't think that what you are doing is wrong as it is a legal drug and many people do take adderall for good reason. It is an amphetamine and that's not even a narcotic anyway, so I think that what you are doing is fine. Why do you feel guilty about it anyway? Are you feeling better since taking it?

i feel guilty for everything. i have to have people's approval for the guilty feeling to go away. even something as small as being put on a new medication, and it does make me feel better. even if i drink one of my husbands beers with dinner, for no reason i think he might get mad at me. he never has.

I was told a really funny thing by a friend. He said it's easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission! I think that it should be a good idea for you to try living life that way! I know it's hard to start doing, but once you do, I'll bet that you feel a lot better. What do you think?
