Hi there. You don't have to bleed the 1st time you have sex. The bleeding (and pain) is usually caused from breaking your hymen. BUT - a VERY large percentage of girls break their hymen naturally through everyday activities like sports, gymnastics, masturbating, etc. long before they lose their virginity!
There is something a little more concerning to me here though - you mention that the condom wouldn't stay on. That is a pretty serious issue! Before you have sex again, make sure your boyfriend gets a proper sized condom. There is no point in using one if it doesn't stay on!
