I was born with 3 Kidneys, and luckily found out when I was very young, also because the valve at the end of the Ureter in my bladder on the right side ( the side with 2 kidneys) was broken, and urine was flowing back up in to my kidneys and back in to my bladder several times before actually passing the urine. I also have a very narrow Urethra wich can cause the bladder not to be drained properly, When I was 17 I had surgery and my bladder walls were caked with stale urine. This makes me very prone to UTI's

Although I do not have 3 complete seperate kidneys, I have what you call a duplex kidney. During developement, my right kidney broke in to two, but kept growing at the same time, so I have like a 7/8 kidney and a 1/2 a kidney on one side, which both have their own ureter attached to them but join up again before reaching the bladder. So those Kidneys arent 100% perfect. Infact, both my kidneys ont eh right side only do 32% of the overall work, leaving my left strong kidney doing 68%, so If I loose my left kidney, I'm on dialisys for the rest of my life.. Sounds fun eh?

Don't underestimate your kidneys, they can royally f**k you over.
Oh and not a yr ago, I had a kidney infection, that got in to my blood stream and I got blood poisoning. Causing me to spend a week and my 19th birthday in a hospital .

Hi, Wow. I thought I was the only one. I have three kidneys. Yes I used to have a lot of UT infections. I take an over the counter homeophathy herb called "cantharis" when I feel one coming on. I also take aloe vera capsules in the morning before having coffee. It seems to help. I found out I had a third kidney when I was pregnant with my son. It really scared the ultra sound technician. I was having appendix problems later and it was removed when it blew. Ten years ago a lot of really really bad things occured in my life all within a month's time. After which I was diagnosed with "fibromyalgia". So I quit eating wheat, because I was having a hard time digesting it. I saw a natuaralpath and was put on enzymes. I found out I was anemic and was put on folic acid, vitamin B12 shots. I wasn't as sick, but still unable to work full time. Now it appears that I have some sort of adrenal gland problem and it could have been the problem the entire time. Adrenal glands are on top of kidneys. I have one full size left kidney and two on the right. One is full size the other is half size. They are all fully functional. I too process liquids quickly. Adreanal problems are treatable. They can cause a huge amount of symptoms. Unfortunately doctors are taught to not look for "zebra's in a a heard of horses". I've had to tell some of my doctors that "zebras exist!". Don't give up! You can have a quality life! God loves you and wants you to be well! Symptoms of adrenal problems range from G.I. problems, dizziness, hormonal problems, inability to concieve, anemia, memory fog, sleep disorders etc. If you haven't been given a test where you are on a diet without onions and garlic (+a list of others) and at specific intervals through out the day have a cotton gauze put under you tounge, and sent to a lab quickly - then you haven't had the adrenal test that you need to have. Good luck! I'll be praying for you. Hopefully you will be diagnosed quicker than I was.

I am getting a kick out of reading these post that say I was born with 3 kidneys. Well how else would they appear there? I mean someone in the middle of the night sneaks in and does a midnight transplant on you? I also have 3 kidneys I am a 59yr old male and have had no problems since I was a child when I had blood in my underwear and my mother took me to the Dr. to find out why. I had an operation of some sort and since then no problems. I do notice that I pee a lot and I didn't get the connection until I read some of these posts. Anyways unless you believe in alien abduction then if you weren't born with 3 kidneys you won't have 3 kidneys. XD 8-|

Hey there, I used to have 3 kidneys but my third one was dying so I had it removed. I know have problems with my kidneys but that's because I was so young and dying with the third one growing more infected as I got older. If your kidneys are all functioning fine then don't remove them. Its makes you a unique individual :-) My mum always says I'm special but I never realised how special I was until I thought about having had 3 kidneys.

I am a 45 year old man, I was born with three kidneys. two on my left side and one on the right. Other than the need of driking a gallon of water per day, I have never had any problem with it. I had a kidney stones for a few times but I passed them by drinking beer. I am not a drinker so for me to have a beer is like taking a medicine, it is actually much better than Cranberry juice but thats about personal taste.

At my age I can say that I have never suffered from flu and other common diseases, actually it is very rare for me to get sick of anything so after all, I think that having three kidneys were a good thing, especially when all three work

Hi, I think that it's a blessing to have 3 kidneys.  You never know who's life you can save by donating one of your kidneys.  I am in the process of donating one of my kidneys.  At the moment, I believe that there are only two.  Whether it's discovered that I have two or three kidneys it's a blessing to be in good health to be able to do so.  So, I believe that if your kidneys are functioning fine you should keep all of them.

I was born with three fully functioning kidneys as well.  My ex-father in law was born with four and because of this genetic anomoly coming from both sides of the gene pool, I have given birth to two healthy children and lost three, one for sure to Potter's Sequence, the others were not far along enough to tell but the doctor's suspect that this was the case with the other two as well.  Both of my children have had severe kidney infections from a young age, and one has reflux as well.

i would acctully not remove it if its not causing any problems, i have 4 , when i was born i had two kiddnies they split in half , which equals out to 4 but 1 half died, there for i only have 1 1/2 where a norrmal person would have 2. i havent had to have it removed, they told me not to get it removed unless it acctually caused problems, im only 16 tho. by the way its known as a dual collective system.

i found i had three kidneys when i was 13, i constantly had UTI's and i could not take it anymore. i've had horrible bladder problems. i wake up at least 6 times a night to go pee. also lately ive been having blatter leakage and its starting to get worse, and im only 18 years old. Also to the person who said why don't people with three kidneys donate, well my answer is; its a major surgery. taking out a major organ espacially when we might need it one day, due to one dying on us later in life.
