the lump is small and i have only just noticed it. it was bleeding very slightly just as a spot does when squezzed what could it be?

It is a spot. Nothing to worry about. Keep it clean. Put an antiseptic cream on if you want. I sometimes get them. I do nothing and they go in a few days.
