I have been going to the gym twice a week for a few years now and all that has helped me get a trim and fit body, which I am very happy with. I stopped going recently because I have had a really busy period at work. I was feeling quite happy about that because I did read that giving the gym a break would encourage muscle growth once you get back, but I found that I am losing some muscle. What do you think I should do?

You would be, because you are not training at the moment. Your theory is valid though, and once you return to regular exercise your muscles will indeed grow faster than before. How long has it been since you have been to the gym? Perhaps it is time for you to get back there now, because your break has lasted long enough?
