Hi, for years I thought I suffered from IBS. Two days ago, I went to another doctor to examination, he told me that I have Crohn’s disease. I am confused, and I don’t have a clue why did they diagnose me differently. Does anyone have some of these conditions?

Hi, I’ve suffered from Crohn’s disease since I was 35 years old. It is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines. Sometimes, it can affect even the digestive system anywhere from the mouth to the anus. At the first time, I had just the small crater-like areas on the inner surface of my bowel. Then they started getting deeper and larger and became a real problem. With time, they caused some symptoms like scarring and stiffness of the bowel, and even abdominal cramps. This disease can be very similar to some types of IBS. They affect often the same area, and without some special tests, the symptoms can be mixed up. For example, the same symptoms as me can have someone who suffers from IBS-c. Constipation can also cause bowel stiffness and abdominal cramps and pain.
