I think I may have it to, but I don't know what to do? I read that you need an antibiotic and to consult a doctor, I have light discharge sometimes and I am worried that I have an infection that makes it smell like urine. This really worries my because I have recurring kidney problems and in the future I may need surgery. What do I do???

Ok so I'm a 13yr old girl and I'm kinda dealing with the same thing so although it was awkward and kinda uncomfortable I told my mom and she made an appointment so I'm saying just straight up tell them or tell your dad that you need to go to the doctor for a check up it's not big deal

I'm joining this topic as well. I'm 13, and I think I've had it for a year or two. Obviously, I've never been diagnosed, but I almost constant research BV, and my symptoms resemble this. I'm very sure that it's not a yeast infection, but it's also not normal discharge/odor. Most of the time, my discharge is white & smells fishy- same as everyone here. I want to tell my mom (because I'd feel uncomfortable telling my dad/stepdad/anyone else), but I'm also closeted trans, and the thought of talking about my body like that makes my skin crawl. I also don't want to visit a gyno because I'm just a child. I've read that BV is cured quickly, though, which makes reaching out seem like a better idea. Still, I'm so anxious to tell anybody. Should I just wait until I'm 18 or something? I know letting BV go can lead to issues with pregnancy, but I am (once again) trans, thus I will probably get a hysterectomy when I have the money & am no longer closeted. Ughhh, I can't stop thinking about this, so can somebody please help?

I am 12, When I told my mum I thought I had BV, I simply texted her saying I had unusual discharge and I wanted to get it checked, but I said I didn’t want to talk about it because it was embarrassing. My mum didn’t really say anything bad, she said she’d get me an appointment after school so I can get it checked, and she said it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You don’t need to talk face to face- I couldn’t bring myself to do that so I built the courage to text her.
Hope I can help some people out :)

I'm 16 and a junior in highschool and i think I have Bacterial Vaginosis as well. My mother is an ICU nurse at a hospital and will probably know about this BV stuff but I am way too embarrassed to ask her about it, especially with how busy my family is lately. I just noticed it earlier this week, the smell and discharge, and haven't thought much of it until today. It smells SO much worse. I took a shower and washed extra good in the land down under but it still stinks! I'm going to try to cut back on sugar and drink more water to see if it helps... If anything I do works, I will reply to this thread again to try to help you all!

Well, I am very late. I’m almost 13, and I just now discovered that I might have BV. I have had white, fishy-smelling discharge for about 2 years I believe? I always thought it was normal. I have seen on the internet that BV can lead to other serious problems, but I’m afraid to tell my mom. If I go to the doctor, I’ll feel uncomfortable :/ I hate the thought of getting checked up on for BV. Someone please help me..?

Don’t be ashamed! You’ve done nothing wrong or anything to be ashamed of, BV is just something that happens to people sometimes. it is more important that you get antibiotics for this than to keep it quiet, so please please tell ur doctor and/ or your mum! You’ll be ok!

I'm 15 years old now lmao and I'm not 100% sure I have it but it feels like it. But let me tell you what I did. First when it's bed time don't wear any underwear it might sound weird but it helps like for me mine wasn't a fishy sent but it was like this unusual weird sent. And after you take a shower rub coconut oil and tea tree oil inside or on your vagina. What you do is you mix coconut oil and tea tree oil together make sure to put more coconut oil than tea tree oil because it can cause irritation. If you don't know how to tell your dad just be like dad can you buy me some tea tree oil for my acne and coconut oil for my hair. Because coconut oil can be used for hait and tea tree oil can be used for the face.

you should first also research yeast infection to make sure you have BV and not yeast nfection bc the symptoms are similar.
after you've confirmed that u have BV you can try a couple home remedies like:
- eating probiotic-containing foods, such as yogurt with live and active cultures or taking a probiotic supplement
- wearing loose-fitting, breathable cotton underwear
- practicing healthy vaginal hygiene habits
- using unscented soaps and unscented tampons whenever possible
if the problem still persists, book an appointment with your doctor. you can either ask ur dad to drop u off or find another way to get there, but once you do, the doctor will probably give you antibiotics in either pill or gel form.
use those as instructed and it should go away in 2-3 days

I think I do too but I'm not sure so I don't want to tell because then it would just be weird if I don't and I have two older sisters and a close mum but still scared to tell . Does anyone have literally anything that can heal it without going to the doctors also do you have to have all the symptoms of it or just maybe the itching and the thin discharge
