I am planning to have intercourse with my partner (my new partner, since I didn't have a boyfriend for more than 3 years). I am excited because I like him and he likes me as well.

But I have one small (I hope that is small) problem and I don't know should I see my gynecologist about this.

To cut long story short, I'm having white, smelly vaginal discharge and I really don't know what to do. My panties are literally white and I am really ashamed about this issue. I think that something is wrong with me? Is it?

Hi there,

Yes, I think that you should visit your doctor. Here's the thing - white vaginal discharge is normal and there is certainly no problem with that, however - smelly vaginal discharge is not a good thing at all and it is likely that you are having some kind of a vaginal infection. This is why you should definitely talk to your gynecologist because if you really have some sort of a vaginal infection, then your partner can get it from you so you really want to check everything out before you decide to have sex with your new partner.

I think that The Pleasure Is Mine is right, you shouldn't have intercourse with your new partner before talking to your doctor first. It is not good to have a smelly vaginal discharge and something is probably wrong so you want to do some tests first in order to see what exactly is going on here. I mean, you can go ahead and have intercourse with your partner but you are aware that that can cause some additional complications if something is wrong already, if something bad is causing your vaginal discharge to be smelly. I'm just saying to go and talk to your doctor about this.

I think that it would be really immature and irresponsible of you to have intercourse with your partner before figuring this out first. You need to set an appointment with your gynecologist and tell her or him what is going on and how did your vaginal discharge look when you got it and explain the smell that you noticed. Then they can figure out what is going on and tell you what is wrong, you might have to do some tests as well but at least you will know if something's wrong and if there is something wrong, you will know what it is.

They are right, you should go and see what is going on with you. I had the same problem a couple of ages ago, my vaginal discharge was smelly and I didn't tell this to anyone, after some time passed I talked to my older sister about it and she said that I must go to talk to my doctor and that I am stupid for not doing it as soon as I have noticed it.

Well, I went to the doctor and there you go, I had some sort of a vaginal infection, I was petrified, but I got better eventually.

Don't run away from your only option - visiting your doctor. If this discharge is also smelly, there is a huge chance that you are dealing with some kind of infection. _Have you ever had this situation before?

I really hope that you already visited your doctor and that you didn't have intercourse with your boyfriend because if you are infected it can become even worse.

I know that a lot of girls are trying to heal this on their own. Sometimes, some of them do have success, but in the most cases you need to use some antibiotics.

No, I still didn't have this intercourse with my boyfriend and also he is mad at me because of this. Don't get him wrong, it is not his fault. I haven't told him about this because I am scared that he might think that I have done something wrong, that I am cheating on him or something like that, and I don't do that. Trust me! I am really scared of doctors, so I was reading about some home remedies that I can use to make this possible infection to go away. Is this right thing to do? I think that I am feeling much better and this vaginal discharge is still there, but in less amount than before. Yes, there is some odd smell on my panties all the time...

How old are you anyway? Why you are so immature??? I still don't get it? This infection (if you have it) can be from some soap or something like that. I am sure that your boyfriend is not that silly to believe that you are cheating on him? Where is the honesty?

You need to deal with the thing that your vaginal discharge is not normal. It is still there after 12 days and it is not normal! NOT!

Any change in the vagina's balance of normal bacteria can affect the smell, color, or discharge texture and any of those things should be treated. Maybe you are dealing with yeast infection, that is correct. I had this, but I visited my gynecologist after two days. I think that you should do this as well. Grow up!
