yeah, i'm 17, male, and just went to the bathroom, had to poo, and there was a lot of blood. it didn't really hurt, but i looked down before i flushed and thought that might just be a bad thing. i suppose i should just mention this to the doctor?

Hi guys has anyone received a what is the cause and what may be the fix for this as being a typical bloke a bit embrressed to go to the docs about it . Have been sh**ting blood on and off for about two years now its not actualy in the poo but sought of around me hole any answers would be greatful . cheers S.Newton

Well to my knowledge rectal bleeding is an indication of either hemmeroids or in some cases colo-rectal cancer. I would strongly recomend getting it checked by a doctor.

Bleeding can also be caused because of a fissure. They usually heal themselves and it can take awhile, but I would have a doctor check it. In my experience regular MDs are not the best choice. I would see a specialist, I had much better luck with one anyway. You can also look up Crohns and colitis to see if you may have some other symptoms of these. Mucus when pooping can be a sign of inflamation which can lead to the bleeding problems. It is not normal to bleed when going to the bathroom, especially if it continues to be a problem. See a doctor or specialist. I hope this helped some.

I'm 19 currently. Yeah, I had it a year ago before and it stopped like after a week or two. It suddenly came back and now it's been going on for a month or two. I'd end up sitting on the toilet from 30 - 60 minutes on the toilet because it's so painful. Usually, I'd have some blood on the toilet paper when I go to wipe.

But yesterday, when I went to wipe and looked down in the toilet, the toilet water was all red. I'm afraid to go if it's going to happen again and I haven't really told my parents yet.

did u drink the fruit punchat mcdonalds? cause mine came out bloody looking too, and i just have mcdonalds earlier and drank teh fruit punch

ive had the same problem as almost everyone else in here. bright red blood in the poop. last time i had this problem it was combined with all sorts of stuff (mono and the flu). i had an operation (cant remember what it was) but it was similar to a colonoscopy but 1.) they didnt drug you and 2.) they only go about 1/3 of the way up. this is very painful. they didnt find anything there so i went for a full colonoscopy and when doing that, they found a fissure at the very end of my anus, very close to the back door. if its bright red, it could be bleeding hemeroid, busted vein or artery, or a fissure (basically like a little cut). if u are having very painful stomach pains or very dark poop (granted...there might be actual poop mixed in with the blood...take this into color consideration), you should go see a doctor because it could be a more serious condition. if its the first time this has ever happened to you, you should go see a doctor. if this has happened a few times to you and all cases you have had have been similar, you shouldn't worry as much.

what i do is kind of force a piece of toilet paper a little ways up the hole (dont finger yourself back there just get it where the TP wont fall out when you stand up) and bear with the pain from holding in your poo. hopefully the fissure or busted vein or whatever will heal itself. i say if it lasts more than 4 or 5 days then you need to go see a doctor as soon as possible.

this can lead to all sorts of stuff including cancers. its your body so if u can afford it...keep it in good shape.

Internal Hemmies will cause bleeding, I bleed for the first time when I was 17, and I freaked out, I went to the doctors and got the Shocker test lol. and they said it was Internal Hemroids, I've had them on and off since then, I just bled while droppin a Duece right now, and I'm 30... So if your really worried call a doctor and say hello to his finger (Pray he has small fingers, cuse my doc didn't).. And Good Luck..

Yo, I'm 32 y/o and have had this problem for years, like 10 or more. It all started when I took a desk job and basically sit on my arse all day long. I've had hemmroid and fizcher(sp) problems for about 10 years as well. It's a scary feeling when you see blood on your tissue and especially when you see a ton of it and tons of it in the toilet. I recently had a buddy who just started pooping blood about two months ago, never has he had an issue until then, so he went and got checked, got colonoscopy and it came back that he has colon cancer. He has since gone through treatments and had the cancer surgically removed. Well this freaked me out because I've had this problem for years, I've been to my doctor several times and he's tested (no colonoscopy) me each time by checking with his eyes and fingers as well as doing the "short scope" and always told me it's my hemmroid and fischer problem. Tells me I definitely need more fiber and it will help. Well this last time he said the same thing (I decided to get checked again after my buddy's cancer diagnosis) and I decided to see a specialist anyway. Went ahead and got the colonoscopy and everything came back negative other than the fact that they confirmed I have both external and internal hemmroids, nothing else said I look healthy as a horse in there. Told me to start eating more fiber and get plenty of water. I have since begun eating double fiber bread, fiber enhanced oatmeal, benafiber in my coffee more fruit etc., I've noticed a huge reduction in 1. the amount of blood and 2. the frequency. In fact I will say that on the days that I'm doing good and eating more fiber I poop great, no blood at all. BUT on those days that I eat poorly I notice blood immediately within a couple of days, especially if I'm eating fast food or really fatty low fiber foods, and beer really kicks my arse.

I hope this helps really all I can tell you folks is 1. see your doctor 2. get more fiber (there are a lot of ways to do this easily) 3. drink more water and last but not least get more active and you'll see this problem become much more controlled.
