Your suppose to have protected sex a week before you have the implanon removed ??? I didn't know that either... I had a period a day or so after i had mine removed which i had mine removed november 2nd of this year & my period came the 3rd or 4th. As of this month no sign of a period... I have had pregnacy symptoms like, nausea, exhausted even if i just had woken up in the morning after having a good nights sleep, peeing constantly, eating way more then usual, strange cravings i seriously ate a coacoa creme cake mixed with cool ranch doritos and i have been breakin out with zits on my face ann i never break out usually. i have taken a total of 4 tests already this month still says negative the dr wants me to come in for a urine n blood work. what do you guys think???

I had so emotional side effects at first. I was panicked and scared easily for some odd reason. My Implanon expired Nov 4, 2012 and I have had some irregular bleeding, severe cramps and sensitive nipples but nothing as far as prolonged pain. I can relate to the fatigue and I gained quite a bit of weight over the last 3 years. I go next week to physically get the implant removed. Its hard to get an appt around the holidays and they only do the Implanon on certain days. I dont know if this will help you I think our bodies (women`s bodies) just react to things in different manners. I would encourage you to seek medical treatment when you think necessary. So good luck and take care.

I had mine removed about 2 months ago, I still haven't gotten my period yet, but I do have sore nipples and some discharge, I will take about 3 months for your hormones to get back to normal.

First things first u definately need to find out for sure if your pregnant or not. If so u need to have your implanon removed immediately also if your not pregnant and those are just side effects u should talk to your mother or doctor about other types of birthcontrol. I was on depo fir 3 yrs and i loved it. I had no bleeding i lost weight and its not an everyday worry. I was also on implanon for a year. I bled all the time and was constantly having pains. I hope this helps you & also birthcontrol isn't 100% effective. Always wear condoms!

There is many things you can do. If you know some one like a friend or an adult you trust not to tell your mom. (which honesty really is the best way though its scary.) Get a ride to your local helping hands center. I recommend not going to planned parent hood unless for removal seeing as if you are pregnant they will suggest an abortion but they will not explain the risks as a young woman that you can face such as infertility (never being able to have kids) Depression, sudden interest in drugs that may not have been there. Suicidal thoughts, and many more. I would talk to some one for sure. By the way both Helping hands and planned parenthood (bad) both have a confidential policy. If you can go into a helping hands ask them for a free pregnancy test and tell them your on implanon and wondering what to do. They should be able to help you the most. Now if you don't want a baby right now (which I'm guessing at 15 that you don't) look into adoption if you are going to give up your baby adoption helps a family that can't have kids finally get the child the always wanted and you can ask for an open adoption which means you can still see your baby. I also recommend talking to your boyfriend about whats going on and see what he says. If he makes you up set or anything then he is not worth your time and don't let him tell you that you should risk having kids in the future just so he dosnt have to say he has a kid out there somewhere. Its your choice not his but i do suggest talking to him as he may be understanding and helpful to you through this if he is like my boyfriend. I really hope this helps and if you are in fact pregnant then congratulations. :) Don't stress to much things will be alright and you will be fine. No matter what your mom loves you she just wants to protect you. if you can let me know how things went. :)

Sincerely, Rebeca Night (age 18)

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting Implanon so I'm doing research and found this forum. I'm a bit worried by the things I'm reading - didn't you do any research before you started? Anyway, if you still have questions the Implanon site has lots of info on it. It's the American site but it's the same product so all the info is the same.

Hope this helps everyone.P.S. A lot of the side effects you've described also happen on the pill.

Hello. I found this site looking for Implanon "removal" effects. I think I'm a rarity. I had the Implanon for the full three years and never had any serious side effects. When I first got it placed, I actually lost weight (about 4 lbs) and kept that plus lost more over the three years. During a few menstrual cycles while on Implanon I admit I did have some uncomfortable symptoms such as very sore breasts. This would typically happen after a skipped period . Compared to the Nuvaring and various pills, Implanon was the best for me. I just think everyone is different. I'm going off it now because I'm just not comfortable with synthetic hormones anymore. I'm giving myself a break. I've only had it out for three days and sincerely hope I don't experience any of the effects I've read.

Hi everyone,

I removed the Implanon on Feb 22, 2013 after nearly 3 years on it.  My experience while on Implanon made me to remove it ; acute weight gain, depression, irregular bleeding, sore breast, tiredness, Hypertension, lack of sex drive, pain in the arm and leg (left arm was the insertion point) and lower back pain.  Since the removal I was bleeding every 7 days until 3 weeks ago and since then no period.  I have also lost 13 lbs (about 5 KG) without any exercise or change in my diet! My mood has improve tremendously. Although my body is gradually returning to normal; I still get unexplained hunger pangs, tiredness in the morning and sore nipples occasionally but  above all the bad symptoms are gradually disappearing.

It will be good if the doctors/nurses promoting Implanon warn people about all the possible side effects; in my case I was only warned about irregular bleeding not the whole lots.  In fact I had to go for a comprehensive medical test when my depression, hypertension and general tiredness/exhaustion got so bad!  The result pointed at Implanon and hence my decision to remove it.

I have not decide on what birth control method to use for now due to my bad experience with Implanon.  I will be grateful if anyone can recommend any for me.
