Hello all.

Our health expert sent us this regarding your question.

"It is possible to experience irritation to the throat after applying lip gloss, especially if the gloss contains certain ingredients that can be irritating to the skin or mucous membranes. Some common irritants found in lip glosses and other cosmetics include fragrances, preservatives, and certain types of oils.

If you accidentally ingest some of the lip gloss or it comes into contact with your throat, it can cause irritation and discomfort. This can include symptoms such as soreness, burning, itching, or swelling.

In addition, some people may be allergic to certain ingredients in lip gloss, which can also cause irritation or an allergic reaction. If you experience symptoms such as swelling of the throat, difficulty breathing, or a rash, seek medical attention right away.

To reduce the risk of throat irritation from lip gloss, it's a good idea to choose products that are formulated with gentle, non-irritating ingredients. You can also try applying the lip gloss with a lip brush or your finger, rather than directly from the applicator, to reduce the risk of accidentally ingesting the product."

If you have any more questions regarding this issue, we'll be happy to help.

Been allergic to lipsticks, balms etc all my life, never been sure what is causing it. Even tried natural lipsticks, nope. I suspect lanolin, beeswax, petroleum products,
etc. My throat goes raw sore and lips get dry and sore.

When lip gloss is used along with an irritated throat, it may be a sign of an allergic reaction, ingredient irritation, or even the spread of an infection. It is preferable to see a physician or dermatologist if symptoms are severe or persistent.
