Hello! My sister suffers from hypoglycemia. Her doctor says she doesn’t suffer from true hypoglycemia since she doesn’t suffer from diabetes. She is always hungry and nervous. She has often mood swings and weakness. Her doctor says she has to pay attention to her nutrition and eat smaller meals every three hours and exercise. But, her problems persist. Is there any other way to treat hypoglycemia than a proper diet? Are there any medications which may help?

Hello! If your sister doesn’t suffer from diabetes than she probably has reactive or fasting hypoglycemia. No medicine is prescribed for that condition which means that a proper diet is the only option. But, if her hypoglycemia is caused by hormonal disorder than hormonal medicines are used to treat her condition. Maybe she should check her liver and kidneys. If there is an illness affecting them this may cause hypoglycemia as well. Then her illness will be treated by certain medicines which will affect her hypoglycemia as well.
