~Hi,
About a week ago I started having a burning sensation while urinating and ejaculation, I also experienced nausea. A few days later two small lesions (about 3mm) apeared on my penis, under the foreskin. I went to a doctor and he said that without a doubt it is Herpes. However I have only had sex once without protection and the girl has no symptoms, so I thought the chances on an STI to be quite slim. I decided to look into it online and looked at pictures of Herpes which looks quite different to my case? So my question is, are there any other infections which may be confused with herpes. It is now three days into my medication (Zelitrex) and I have seen no results. I also have a general discomfort in my groin area, had a swollen gland in my groin last week(before the ulcers appeared) and I have a sore throat. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks

Herpes can be contracted even when an infected person does not have
symptoms. Chances of contracting herpes increase significantly when symptoms are present. If the doctor says what you are experiencing is a herpes outbreak then conduct yourself like it is herpes. Get a second opinion and get some lab results that say you have herpes. If the doctor did not give you a lab test there is a small chance that it could be something else. But until you get a second opinion and some lab results assume that it is herpes.
