Hi, is it true that it’s not useful to take antibiotics for a few weeks or months, and if they are efficient they will show progress in a few days?

Hi, for some infections it is true, but not for all. Generally, if bacteria that caused infection is killed by antibiotic, infection will disappear in a few days. But, if bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic you are taking, and this is not a rare case, prolonged admission of antibiotic will do no good. In urinary infections whole course of antibiotics must be taken, so even after symptoms are gone. But, this lasts usually for 10 to 14 days. Tuberculosis is a disease that is treated for 6 to 9 months with specific drugs.
