Please help! My dd is 6 yrs old. We have been to her ped. and a urologist because she is constantly touching her vagina. But
it is not for pleasure. She is pushing her panties up in between her vagina or against it. She is constantly 'adjusting' herself.
Her DR. seems to think at first it was masterbation, but now thinks it is a sensivity issue.
We treated her for UTI, worms, yeast infection, changed laundry detergents, dryer sheets. No juice.
We just can't figure this out. It probably is 50 times a day. She keeps telling me she has to do it to get it right.
I changed panties and no more baths. Showers only for the past 6 months. What is going on with this adjusting ALL day?
It is so embarressing. Other parents point it out, and think she needs to potty. I just grin and bear and take her
while lecturing for her not to do this in public. PLEASE ANYONE OUT THERE WITH SUGGESTIONS?

ia there any irritation in that area?? and does it get worse at certian times of the day or in certian situations.... it may be possible that it is a form of OCD.... im not saying that it is but that it could be a possibility

This does look a but OCD-y, I guess.
Unless there actually is some irritation. Try her on 100% cotton knickers if you haven't already, some people hate the feel of some synthetics, which often don't allow for good breathing.
I suppose you could try her with no knockers at all for a time, see what behavioural changes occur.

Surely she is not still using the "potty" at 6yo? Was that a polite way you used to describe it?

If it is looking like OCD, I'd ring a qualified homeopath. Homeopathic remedies have much controversy in their use, in that the scientific community tend to be strongly averse to them, crediting any change in health with a placebo effect. In my experience they can work wonders with this sort of problem, where the issue might be mental/emotional.

Is she otherwise well behaved and obedient when needed? Does she masturbate at all? (this is normal.)
Just trying to get to the bottom of whether it is a physical irritation happening, or maybe a mindset-type thing.

Your daughter may feel uncomfortable wearing traditional style underwear, try a little silky thong.
