I have been taking Hydrocodone for 5 years or more and have found it helpful in managing

head neck and back pain I started out using it in combination with ibuprofin so I did not use as much 1/4 to 1/2  but increased to 1/2 more often after needing to stop all nsaids due to kidney function problems.

Recently my Dr prescribed Oxycodone and I found I to be more efective so I can use less as others are saying.

I do however also have osteo arthritus in my thumb joints and Dr corectly said niether Hydrocodone nor Oxycodone will help with that pain.

Thanks to al

To "Guest" concerning OxyContin vs. Oxycodone. THANK YOU for your clear and concise explanation. When people search for information online, too many of them (us) just take to heart whatever we read, and it's usually on message boards like this one. In the case of the Oxys (condone and contin) I've had lengthy talks with my doctor concerning both, as well as Hyrocodone. But as for the Oxys, you were on point!! So Friends, keep researching. This person just gave you the correct information. If you continue researching, not just reading message boards, you'll get accurate information that might just save your life!! Good luck everyone.

You are off on quite a bit. Having been an opiate user for years of ...any type, it is very apparent that methadone isn't far the most powerful. I have NEVER felt so loaded/wasted/out of us as the times I used methadone. It is much stronger than heroin and lasts much longer with far more severe detoxification side effects. It was originally called Adolphine, and was created along with crystal methamphetamine by the Nazi Reich when the Germans were cut off from opiates during WWII. Methadone is the most painful and long lasting detoxification if any drug on the

Oxycodone hydrochloride is the same chemical in Oxycontin. Whoever said Oxycontin is time release is correct. geez what is a matter with you people., some of you don't even know how to spell the medication you're talking about.

Oxycodone and Oxycodone HCL are the EXACT SAME thing. Oxycodone HCL (hydrochloride) is just the full name of Oxycodone. OxyContin IS the same drug as Oxycodone just released over a long period of time when Oxycodone or the full name Oxycodone HCL (hydrochloride) are instant release. BEFORE correcting someone with false and frankly, ignorant information would be medical malpractice.

I found out only after my boyfriend and I purchased Tramadol in Mexico for "emergencies" that he had been in rehab for not only his alcoholism but also for a opiate addiction as well. He got hooked on the Tramadol but was able to get off it although he was supplementing with opiates while on the Tramadol. Things stable for now but all this c**p is problematic if you are prone to addiction.

Actually, OxyContin is a name brand of Oxycodone HCL and both are just an extended release form of Oxycodone. So basically, all are Oxycodone the only difference is how they are released in the body...
Other forms of Oxycodone are mixed with another medication, such as acetaminophen, and that would be something like Percocet.
Whereas, Vicodin is a pain reliever consisting of Hydrocodone and acetaminophen.

Please change HCL to HCI....that was a typo.
OxyContin is the name brand for Oxycodone HCI and this is extended/time released.
Oxycodone HCL is immediate release. All are oxycodone with the only difference being how it is released in the body.
