It could be yeast infection. Overgrowth of yeast called Candida in the genital area often causes such symptoms. While sometimes only causes itching and redness, there are situations in which it can cause swelling, awful vaginal discharge that smells bad, flakiness, etc

You should make an appointment with your gyn when the symptoms are present to have it checked.

Any woman can get yeast infection, those who do and those who don’t have sex because yeast infection is not sexually spread although it may appear as a latex condom reaction.

If this itchiness appears from time to time, it could be ordinary skin reaction to certain irritant and if no yeast infection has been found, you may see a dermatologist instead.

But try to think if you’ve been using any special creams, deodorants, washing detergents slightly before your symptoms occurred.
