I had the same problem between my ass and nut sack. It's a bit swollen like a line drawn between my ass and sack and a bit bumpy, weird. For me it hurt a bit when i walk as though the skin had become sensitive. I live in a climate were it is extremely humid and temperature ranges between 95 - 97 degrees F, almost every day for the last 6 months. At the corner of my ass its a bit itchy and i feel a tiny bump as well.

I believe this is all caused by excessive heat. I grabbed a zip-lock back and filled it with a quarter of cold water and added 5 ice cubes. I then applied it to the area for about 3 hours. The next morning the itching sensation was gone and the line bump feels as though it disappeared as well.

As far as the puss substance people were talking about as well as the bleeding, I did not notice for myself. I stayed away from disturbing the area as much as possible. However, I would assume that perhaps it's a heat rash that we are experiencing were perspiration in that are was challenged and moistener was trapped under the skin. Later, that trapped moister may have become a breading ground for fungus to develop. After all, this region of the body is ideal for that. As for the bleeding, you may have broken or cut the skin in that sensitive area while scratching.

If I am correct, and I believe I am, I would also recommend spraying 3% hydrogen peroxide to the effected area to kill off the fungus. I did just that while in the shower and allowed it to sit for 20 minutes. I repeated this process every day for week. If you want to try this, I advise not using the hydrogen peroxide found in the local stores or pharmacies. It contains toxic stabilizers and additives. Not the ideal substance to use in that region. Rather, go online and purchase 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide and dilute it to 3%. It safe and will safely kill off the fungus. I used to get jock itch almost every summer, yeras ago, esp when I was overweight...now this past summer, its just confined to area between the anus and below to the lower part of scrotum...I found using an anti fungal helps along w/ taking a probiotic(like Align) to balance the intestinal flora..now that the weather is cooler, its better:)

Honestly if you see no blood or discharge at all... just wash it and keep it clean. The one thing that has always helped me with jock itch and irritations is a powder called Columbia powder. It works for everything. It works for razor burn, irritations, bug bites, rashes, and the occasional itch down below.

I am having a similar problem. I have an dry, itchy line that goes from my anus to right before my testicles start. also some on the crease of my leg and buttocks. Unlike some other stories here, I do not notice any pus, foul smell, or blood (unless i scratch it so much that it becomes a little bit raw). the line is directly on top of what looks like a tract that goes from my anus up to my scrotum. I wouldnt even consider them bumps, because it is not very bumpy, they look more like irritated hair follicles. appears to be more of a rash to me.

One other thing I know is that it is reaccurring and it is seasonal. once a year, around winter time, it starts to appear again but i also get very dry itchy knuckles and elbows at the same time so I am not sure if they are related or not. It is the same every time, and even in the same place (even always on the crease between my right leg and groin). It usually lasts a few months until it starts to warm up again and then it goes away. very strange. It has been happening for probably 4-5 years now and I dont think that it is any kind of STD because it started every winter before I even lost my virginity.
can anyone help? does anyone know what it is and anything that can treat it?

OK So I also ignored these symptoms for around 6 months, mis-self-diagnosed piles, finally went to the doctor today!

1) The swollen line that I thought was a vein between anus and scrotum is actually a skin fold developed as a a fetus (they would have been you labia had nature decided to make you a girl! they grow together to form the male perineum!)

2) The swelling, mucus etc is probably a fungal infection!

3) Get some Dactarin (Althetes foot cream) from your chemist and apply twice daily, if it persists you need a prescription for a similar cream which contains a steroid!

Stop being scared and get to the doctors, every doctor has had to deal with piles which as my own doctor stated is far more unpleasant to dela with than this simple infection! The thing should clear up in a couple of weeks with the right cream.

I feel sooooo relieved and am very surprised that my internet searches did not turn this information up!

I have exactly the same thing.  I have had it before too.  It is a swollen line between my anus and scrotum and the itching is horrible.  I've had it before and it went away on it's own.  I connected the start of this with me starting back with a swimming routine and spending some time in the hot tub so a fungal infection of some sort is possible.

Interesting comment by someone about this fold being the vagina lips if I had been a girl made me laugh.  I looked at my enlarged folds and had thought it looked very much like vaginal lips.

Going to try some antifungal on it , had been using cortesone so I would not scratch it until I bled.

WOW i have been looking on the web for a while now for this. I have the same thing most people are talking about. This is the third time that it has come on. I have gone in several times to the doctors about it. First time they told me it was from my hemorrhoids/hemroids problems. But i have had it now twice when my hemroids were not acting up. The second time I went they said it was a fungus infection/ or yeast infection of the skin. Nothing that they gave me helped. Mostly it made thing worse. Fungus cream (the worse) has high amounts of steroids that thins the skin out. Which made thing worse then they already are. Finally it just clean up last time keeping the area clean and dry. Itching it only makes it worse. Oh and NO it doesn't just feel good to itch it because of the area (from above). it feels good because it itch so bad. I am going to go in again with in the week to talk to the doctors again because it just came back yesterday out of the blue. and I am going to share this page with my doctor because I think he thought that I was unclean and had mad it up or didn't believed him. Oh the other one was eczema but i call BS on that one from the start. Every one that I said before never match up with what I have researched online. Will post update if i have any results.

I'm 36 and this is my first jock itch experience. In the words of my friend who had jock itch a couple years ago "it's very distracting - its all you can think about". For diagnosis, one option is to go to a doctor, and ask them to take a culture swab. They will send the swab to a lab and can identify as fungus or bacteria within 48 hours. Allow an additional 24 hours for the antibiotic resistance test in the case of bacteria. Yeast infection / jock itch is very common, and is caused by the same fungus as athlete's foot and ringworm. I have been treating myself for these symptoms for 4 weeks, the yeast is really persistent and I'm getting quite fed up. In the case of yeast, you use an -azole treatment. I use micanazole, though others use clotrimazole. Tinactin is said to be less effective, but it's very well marketed. Also there is a one- time pill called Fluconazole, one brand name is diflucan, I felt the yeast infection go into my anus a couple weeks ago - I took a diflucan and within 24 hrs the internal itch sensation had completely disappeared. There are similar prescription pills that can be taken in the event of a very persistent yeast; the drug builds up in skin and fatty tissues. I hope I can effectively treat without this. I did notice that the -azole spray, if you can handle the first 5 minutes of intense sting, is much better for the infection than the creme which does nothing to alleviate the itch. It's just really tricky to get rid of the fungus since it's in the moist folds of my anus which I sit upon all day long. Hopefully I will be able to return to this board within 4 weeks to report myself completely symptom free.

I'd like topping out to other readers, that the spray was doing nothing to cure the problem. It did prevent the itching, but the infection was unchanged. I have switched to a 2% clotrimazole creme, and the infection looks to be almost gone 6 days later. So unfortunately, what I said above about the spray "being better" is not true. The spray is very ineffective for me, 4 weeks with no effects other than to prevent itching. Actual cure is achieved with -azole based creme.
