My baby boy Jonathan was born at 28 weeks and as a preemie he was 2 days in NCIU before they did an ultrasound and found he has IVH bleeding, grade 4, completely affecting his right side. Our neonatal doctors were telling us not to give hope because brain can re-wire itself, especially in babies, but his temporary shunt has been replaced with what seems to be more permanent one, and as far as developmental signs go, I’m so scared how much Jonathan is behind. He is now 3 months, adjusted, and he had all these procedures and I’m wondering will he ever catch up with his peers, or even with preemies born without IVH?
