I would say that you are having a panic attack. suggest you get checked out by Dr
I had exactly the same symptoms as you describe in my early 20s , if it is anxiety its important to get help and understand the problem.
good luck

Get your thyroid checked!! And your vitamin D level. I was jolting awake and having strange heartbeats. Diagnosed with hypothyroid and cysts on my thyroid glands. Take Synthroid every day and have NEVER had these symptoms again.

Maybe ask your doc todo a 24hr heart monitor. In theb24hrs do a journal of when you feel it, when you feel the jolts ect..,between the journal and the heart monitor compared side by side you can see if what your feling lines up with the heart monitor and your doc will know your not makin it up.

I feel all of the above and sometimes it really feels like gas. People call me hypocondriac (?) just because the Doctors keep saying my heart is just fine and many people go through the same and they get used to it.

OMG... i too felt i will die in my sleep. This happened twice and i forced myself to wake up. And then the third day I decided ... lets see what happens.!!
I woke up next day all fine.
I usually feel my body going numb and shake myself little bit. Initially I thought there was some problem in my brain.... and I am so happy to see the posts and realize that I am normal!! ;) :)

I get this feeling every night laying facedown and feeling like my hearts trying to escape my chest. I often also get pins and needles in different parts of my body fingers, Knees etc. I also get strong headaches these last until I jolt myself and wake up again and they progressively get stronger and I'm getting really worried to go to sleep and it's starting to effect my life as I get next to no sleep and I am only 15, 16 in months and I'm really scared to sleep

Hi so I was online last night and I asked on Google what it means when I get woken up right as I'm just about to fall asleep because I can't move or breath and my body's gets tingly all over? Well it came up with a bunch of articles about Sleep Paralysis. Look it up. It'll explain everything you guys have been talking about. And yes it can stem from Anxiety Disorder as well as Narcolepsy and isolation. I know it sounds weird but just look it up. I think this might be the answer.
