Hey everybody.
Im trying to get into some better shape, and I thought I would try running. I knew I couldnt run much, and I saw that beginners running guide so I am going to try to follow that. I have a few questions though.
First off, when I run, the back of my throat gets really sore. I think it may have something to do with the cold, but Im not sure.
Secondly, since Im not in shape, should my lungs sorta hurt after running?
Thanks!

:wavey: Welcome. Your throat is probably drying out cuz you are breathing harder and through your mouth some too. That could make it sore or yes, the cold too. It's normal for your lungs to hurt too. It takes some time to build up lung capacity.

Learning to breathe through my nose rather than my mouth was the best thing for me to begin to build my base.

Thanks for the advice! Ive been breathing out my nose and that really does seem to help.

good luck with the running! Where are you that it's still cold this time of year?
Once you get more used to running, the lungs hurting problem should go away, but I've never heard of the sore throat problem before!
Stick with it!

I am a beginner (again) myself and my lungs hurt while i run, but not after, and i just attribute that to fitness, it gets better...I just slow down, or back off a bit and each time gets a little better... Keep out there!

A sore throat is for sure just something that happens in the beginning. I try as often as I could to breathe through my nose, but it almost never happens. So even if you can't get used to it, your throat will eventually get used to running.
