I had the same experience. I had a medical abortion on the 26th of May this year, everything seemed to go smoothly and I was sent away with a pregnancy test and told to take it in 3 weeks time (it came back negative) I bled heavily for 2 days with a little discomfort but managed fine with hot water bottles and paracetamol. I then continued to bleed for 7 weeks, only lightly. I then began to bleed heavily again and started to pass clots for 3 or 4 days, on the 4th day the clots were getting bigger (the size of a peach maybe?) and became more regular..I could feel them coming and would have to run to the bathroom! I went to bed that night with a little cramp, and hardly slept. I was up every hour dashing to the loo, and the pains were getting intense. I have no children of my own, but I imagine that is what contractions feel like! I was doubled over and unable to move for about 30 seconds, they would then ease up for a couple of minutes and happen again. I started to really panic and called an ambulance. I was rushed in given gas and air, morpheme and strong paracetamol but still felt the pain. Eventually they gave me an examination and had to removed a group of large clots from the top of my cervix. After this the pain relieved straight away! The doctor was horrified that the clinic did not offer a physical check up after my abortion. I continued to bleed lightly for another week and finally stopped! Touch wood - everything has been absolutely fine since! Hope this helps others - if you are in pain or bleeding clots I suggest you get checked out :)

Speaking of bleeding I am currently at the hospital with my girlfriend. She had her abortion 7.5 weeks ago and her bleeding was minor. She's in surgery now because planned parenthood messed up. She has lost about 2 quarts of blood in the last couple hours. If anyone starts bleeding heavily. Don't wait. Go to the emergency room. She will be fine now but I have been freaking out. We thought everything was fine.

I am probably the only male here but my girlfriend had an abortion about a month ago now (yes we used protection as well prior to this so it was unplanned).
To everyone else, some good well informed knowledge and advice. You are dropping a lot of clots when you pee/poo etc as your uterus is shrinking in size from that of when you had a foetus in your womb.
The clots form due to the increased area, blood pools and clots quickly. before passing out when you squeeze to go to the toilet one way or another.
Uterine tissue will also still be coming out for anything upto 3-4 weeks.
If you also started the combined contraceptive pill immediately after your abortion (the following day), you will likely get breakthrough/withdrawal bleeding at the end of your first pack. The pill will also increase clotting potential of blood in your uterus as well, so the Pill, IUD, sub-dermal implant, depro shot/injection will all increase your chances of seeing clots, especially large ones, appearing.

Hi I'm the same I had a termination 5days ago everything was fine up till a hour ago massive clots and thick like a 50cent coin and about 30 of them if I stand up the just fall out of me marie stopes where I went told me if I fill 4pads with in 2hours to call back straight away and they reference you to the hospital because that's not normal she did say clots are normal but not massive amounts in a small time frame.. I'm worried I have pains in my bum and sharp period pains and lower back pains took some nurofen and its not helping used a hot water bottles had some water and still nothing I'm worried
