Hi, My Husband is 47 yrs old. He has large watery welts on his back for over a year. On his upper back only. Does not effect any other part of his body. Seems to get worse when in the sun. (He will not allow sun now to hit is back. He keeps his back covered) About 3 months ago he went to his new HMO Physician and was placed on steriods. Steriods brought the red swelling down, but the welt marks are still there. He has not returned back to this Physician as I have suggested that he obtain a specialty referral for a Derm Physician to see him. It has been over 3 months and it is back to what it was before. Really red, sometimes they itch but not much. Some watery fluid will come out of them. His skin on the upper back looks blochy with these welts. What can it be? He is a smoker. Smokes only outside our home. He is overweight by 30 lbs. Stressed working two jobs in Sales. Due to being out on the road in sales he eats out all the time. Is this an autoimmune disorder? Food Allergies? or other type of Allergies? He did not follow the Drs. orders to go and have lab work which he wanted to test him for allergies. What do you think this could be? Thank you for your time.
