I had the GL procedure 4 1/2 weeks ago. Urine flow has improved. The urge to urinate has been greatly reduced. Bladder is empty. All in all I am very happy with the results. The only thing I am not happy with is the burning in the penis during/after urination. The Doctor said this is common and should ease up in a week or two. What is the common experience of readers of this post when it comes to the urination burning? Does it take 6+ weeks to ease?

I had PVP 7 weeks ago. Had to be hospitalized for 2 days to have my bladder irrigated because of the large clots blocking my urethra. The surgeon trimmed back more of my prostate. Upon release from the hospital I had no complications, pain bleeding or urine retention. 10 days post release I am having retention and blood clot issues. Very frustrating

Wishing you the best in your recovery. I had the PVP 7 weeks ago and things are really improving. The pain and discomfort while urinating is easing. Frequency, urgency is getting better. I passed my last clot a week ago. I believe the doctors downplay the recovery time. It takes 6+ weeks to start to feel human again. I know some people recovery quicker and thats great. But from what I had experienced, it does take time and it gets frustrating at times. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I had green laser procedure on 2002. Until today I get the burning sensation occasionally.
Specially if I have prolonged sex or I do heavy lifting. The scar tissue / burning was a result of early applications. Today there are new treatments. Then was not perfect. But it was all they had got an enlarged Prostate.

Hello David.
Read your post and it sounded just like what i am experiencing. Just had a laser holep procedure that went well but after 5 full weeks the urge to pee and the burning sometimes is awful. Light dribble when i get up quickly from a sitting position my doctor said i must remember to squeeze when getting up. Not that bad though but the buning urges can be tough when urinating. The burn gets worse at the end of urinating doc said its because the blader is pressing down on the blader neck where they removed a lot of tissue. Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for your post. Lou..

Been five weeks today for my HoLep and still burn with spasm urge. But i can pee like a bull! Which is a 1000 percent improvement. I think it’s going to take months before the discomfort easing. It’s the price we pay. Sucks getting old. But erections are good!

I had laser for BPH Feb 9 after a poorly done TURP the previous April. After TURP I was sick for months, lost 25 lbs, and had no symptom relief. I changed doctor and scheduled laser ... It's May 1 this weekend and the burning, urgency, passing of blood and tissue has finally ended. After a year of struggle I feel as close to normal as I could expect. I still get up at night but not as much. I believe I'm as good as I can.expect at 72. I added herbs and celery seed to my morning diet several weeks ago. The celery seed has helped reduce my fluid retention and reduced my need to urinate at night.significantly. That's my story ... Good luck to you.

I had the Green Light Laser prostate vaporization procedure on April 30, 2018. Twenty-four days after the surgery, I still get up at nights four and five times. The bleeding has stopped but each time I void my bladder I feel a terrible and excruciating pain at the tip of my penis. My surgeon suggested that I stop taking Flomax and Finasteride which I had been taken both for more than 8 years. I did stopped taking theses medications and now my flow and stream are very weak. I explained this to the doctor and he said that those symptoms are quite normal and that it would take a while before disappearing. I am kind of disappointed at this point since it soon will be a month I had the GL and I still don't see any progress. I hope these symptoms will vanish in the near future and wish with all my heart that I won't have to be repented having had this surgery done on me. As of now I haven't much progress and to be honest I am scared and disappointed at the same time.

Your response is similar to my post-op recovery! First week, gradual loss of symptoms ... blood, urinary spasms. By the end of the second week, I had severe pain AFTER urination and spasms. I did not want to return to using narcotic pain killers, so I used 800mg of prescribed Ibuprofen and the pain, spasms were diminished by 95!! Going into my third week of post op. I still take anti inflammatory drugs. I'm not sure how long this recovery will take, but I decided to give it 3-4 months. I still dribble at the end of peeing, so I have to wait until "the leaky faucet" stops before I leave the toilet. I had no choice with having laser, as I had reached the end of BPH and my kidney function was being impeded with back flow of urine.
