I am male, 34 and I was prescribed with Lexpro. I am in relationship more than 4 years and everything is ok, except for one thing. I cannot achieve orgasm since I am on Lexapro. This is terrifying for me, since this was never happening to me! Is orgasm failure due to Lexapro?
Yes, orgasm failure could be due to lexapro. One of Lexapro side effects is decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. Talk to your doctor about this and maybe you shall get some other medicine.
I am 54 year old female and I stopped taking Lexapro and Paxil because of the same symptoms. My doctor was very understanding and was willing to make adjustments and changes to my meds to find the medication that is the right fit for me. Being unable to reach orgasm due to a medication that was suppose to improve my mental health was not a good trade off for me. I am still looking for the perfect fit but I don't think the miracle pill exists. I am also working on non-medical ways to improve or should I say get rid of my depression. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone.
Good Luck,
KLee

I'm a 21 year old male who was prescribed Lexapro. I began taking it a couple of weeks ago.
I've noticed since I began taking it the same thing. Achieving an orgasm is taking much longer.
I'm embarrassed to tell my psychiatrist because I don't talk about things like that.
It's a difficulty that I'm willing to deal with. I was just wondering that in general, is this something that could cause long-term harm, or is it something that I can just ignore while I'm taking Lexapro?
It seems that you're saying it's not unusual. Given my situation, what would you recommend?

I have been on Lexapro for a year. Orgasim is very difficult to reach especially if I am focusing on having one. If I go into it with less expectation I have been capable of reaching orgasim. I would say that when I do finally reach it, it is better than before. Although hard to reach, still worth it in the long run.
I used Lexapro for about a year and had the same problem. When I discussed this with my psychiatrist she took me off the Lexapro and put me on Welbutrin, and the problem went away. The Welbutrin worked as well as Lexapro for me. Another benefit of the Welbutrin was that while the Lexapro made my depression go away, it also kind of dulled all my emotions and feelings and so made me feel kind of "flat". I didn't get this kind of "flat" feeling with the Welbutrin.
Hello. 28 year old Irish male here, and I'm in the same Lexapro boat, with a complete inability to reach orgasm. But you know, there is an upside to this. You could say I have difficulty reaching orgasm but right now, I like to say (I hope I'm not being crude) I have an increased sexual stamina which no sexual partner is going to complain about. Turn something negative positive and you'll hopefully be well on the way to not needing Lexapro or other such.
Glad this works for you, but I'm female and it's frustrating.
I'm female and I had the same problem and it was the most frustrating thing, but I noticed that with time it's getting easier to orgasm
Plus, worrying about if youre going to orgasm or not, makes having an orgasm even harder
so maybe try not to worry so much and let it happen?

all antidepressants do that i have been off of paxil for a week now and my sexual feelings are starting to return im off the paxil for good. Its a good drug with BAD side effects. WEIGHT GAIN AND NO SEX DRIVE.....not for me
36 yo male here that just started taking lexapro. For now, it is taking longer to reach orgasm. Honestly though, that puts a smile on my face cause I can go much longer. If it gets to where I can't reach one, I would have to try something else.
I know that all antidepressants can do that but it depends on which one you try. I think that often it's a good idea to try which one work best for you. Of course if you're okay with no antidepressants that's all the better. Have you given them up altogether?

I"m a 20 year old female and have been on Lex for 5 years now. I've been feeling great so my doc put me down to 2.5 to 5 a couple of weeks ago. Except for the usual withdrawal symptoms (nausea, migraines, and brain zaps), I'm feeling the best I've felt in YEARS. :-)
However, I've been sexually active for two and have never experienced pleasure with any of my supposed orgasms. My current boyfriend has gotten me to actually ejaculate multiple times, but it doesn't feel any different for me than if he had done nothing at all. I'm going to visit him tomorrow, and I really want to achieve my first mental orgasm with him, but I"m afraid my long time on Lex has broken me. I'm so scared I'll never orgasm...
It's been a whole week without taking it (2.5 mg), and I don't know if this is long enough to get it out of my system. I know it sounds awful, but all my girlfriends talk about their amazing orgasms and I feel like it should be my turn now...
How long do I have to be off Lex before I can orgasm for the first time, ever?

im a female and was recently put on lexapro and cannot reach orgasm it makes me really frustrated. Im young and i want to be sexual satisfied when having sex and not orgasming put a big strain on my relationship. The med has helped in my depression and aniexity but i don't know if its worth losing my sexual drive and ability to reach orgasm.
