Dont think it was the drinking. Lexapro will do this to you. I quit cold turkey in Aug. 2012. Off 5 months and some of the withdrawals had got better but some were still bad, so 4 different doctors told me to go back on and it would be ok. I was afraid too but since they insisted I did. I took one half of a .10 mg. and next morning was so dizzy and depressed more than ever in my life. I just couldnt take the pill anymore. Now I have the same withdrawals that I has started with last year. Dont know if I will ever get over this.

I stopped taking the lexapro. I tapered down to 2.5 and then stopped.  Now Ihave been feeling sick for the past 2 weeks.  I have muscle pains and chest pain.  Yesterday I thought I was going to have a heart attack or stroke, the chest pain and dizziness was so severe.  The medication was not that helpful. It seemed to help an itty bit, but I see why some people prefer to be all natural and just drink or smoke pot.   Also - Sounds seem to vibrate and hurt my ears which feel super sensitive.  Sometimes I have ear pain and pain in the middle of my throat reverberating to my ears.

This cannot last for 5 months.  If you felt sick for 5 months - you should sue them.  This is so debilitating I had to take several days off of work.

I have been eating my vegetables and walking and taking 5-htp and fish oil and b-complex and d3 and drinking lots of water and sleeping 8 to 10 hours so my body can recover.  How is it legal for a medication to have withdrawal like this? Shouldn't a legal medication with fda approval do more good than harm?  How can these drug companies convince the fda that humans can consume these manmade concoctions?

Hi, i have been a user of lexopro 10 mg for 10 years so what happened, 3.5 months ago i stopped taking lexopro 10mg i stopped slowly, 5mg for one week, than 2.5 mg for one week, than 1.25 mg for one week , than 0.625 one week than 2.5 mg once a week, than 2.5 mg after 2 weeks, than i stopped finally. but during this time i thought i was going die because of short breathing, dizziness, sweeting, headache, fever. but i am getting better after 3.5 months and no more dizziness, and also if i do some hart work , i will wakup in the middle of night because of short breathing. but still i am happy that i stopped this sh*t and also when i was taking lexopro i had blood prssure, and my six drive goes compeltlly to zero, also it made me so fat. i never take this sh*t again. this medication is so expensive.

You can get off lexapro if you do it very and i mean very slowly.  It took me two months to get off lexpro.  I was at 20mg when I started.  I then took 17.5mg for a week (get a pill splitter at walmart).  Then for two weeks i went to 15mg, then to 12.5mg for another week or so, then 10mg....you get the drift.  I had no side effects.  I tried getting off this stuff before and i got slammed with horrific stomach pain.  So i decided i will do this again but slowly.  I also added amitriptaline and tapered up on that as i was tapering down on the lexapro so i still had serotonin going into my system.  Amitriptaline is way easlier to get off.  Don't give up, you can get off of this drug.

I was on Celexa for two years then Lexapro for a year. I tapered off the Lexapro about 8 weeks ago. I was at 10mg, then did two weeks at 5mg, then two weeks at 2.5mg, then none. Having all the withdrawal symptoms still and I've been completely off for about 4 weeks now. The fever, chills and achy feeling are gone but those brain zaps have not subsided. I have no idea how long this will last but it's really frustrating!!

don't know where to start...night sweats, fuzzy feeling right something is nigh right with with me..a weird feeling that I cannot describe with anybody.. sleepless nights.

I was on Lexapro 10mg for 1 1/2 years because of work and family issues. In march, told my doc I wanted off...he told me 10mg every other day for 1 month, then 5mg every other day for another month - and not to worry, NO SIDE EFFECTS.  I discontinued all after 2 weeks. Since then: my heart is racing always, weird dreams, weight loss (good since I gained weight for no reason on Lexapro), EXTREME fatigue...the fatigue is probably the worst symptom as I cannot function during the day....long story short...do yoga, seek counceling but do NOT take this.

I also heard that BPollen, fishoil and Vit B help withdrawls...I am taking BPollen too.

I am really looking for the alternative, natural way to overcome the withdrawl...any ideas would be appreciated.

I have been weaning off all summer ... Two weeks on10...two on 5... And now down to 2.5. Withdrawl has been the hardest thing ever and I believe that since I have taken Lexapro for 7 years that is why it has been so difficult. Nausea, light headed, fatigue and headaches. I am able to sleep okay but the dreams are wicked! Causing a lot of waking up and trying to fall back again. Concentration is shot!!! My husband is a saint I thank God everyday for that? Reading and praying each and everyday has been an enormous help. I have come this far and not going back!!!

I started taking Lexapro for panic attacks. Lexapro got rid of them ... and, I think, helped with general anxiety. I've been on Lexapro for seven years and the ONLY time I've every had panic attacks during that time is when I've missed a dose. And, in all cases, I discovered the missed dose after I had the panic attack. That strikes me as pretty darn good evidence. Note to self: don't miss the Lexapro dose.

I am now on my 2nd attempt of Lexapro withdrawal...determined this will be the final attempt!! Working now on 5 mgs. Having been on 10 to 7 and now 5. Each reduction has been extremely difficult, have been trying for almost 10 months. This last attempt has brought about insomnia pretty bad. Just saw a psychiatrist for help on withdrawing. He Would like me to take trazodone to help with sleeping. I did for 2 nights and had horrible side effects..headache, groggy all a.m. And dry mouth. Not taking it again!!! Resorting back to warm milk and my prayers!!

I've been on lexapro for along time. It's been approximately 8 yrs. during this time I've tried a few different antidepressants. I'd always go back to 20 mg. a day of lexapro. I've tried several times to stop it by tapering off only to go back. This time I went almost a week without even one. I'm wondering if it caused my neck to get stiff. I don't think it helps the way it used to but the dizziness and brain zaps are too much for me to handle. I have major anxiety and I'm prone to depressive episodes. I'm wondering if I'll ever be free.

It has been over a year. May I ask how long it took for your symptoms to go away?
