I had my daughter in december of 2006 via c-section. I got ill shortly afterwards and was diagnosed with endometritis and put on 4 different IV antibiotics. I had pneumonia along with it. Anyways, up until april/may of 2007, I had severe abdominal cramping everytime I ate. It felt just like contractions - it would come and go every 5 minutes for up to an hour. I would be sitting down and all of the sudden, get hot flashes, nausea and severe lower abdominal pain that would last for 5 minutes, then, I had 5 minutes of no pain and then it would come back for 5 minutes and so forth. Like I said -- it felt like labor. I would just sit in the bathroom and cry and wait for it to pass. I sometimes take pain pills to relieve myself of the pain but only do that as a last resort. I could be anywhere. I remember it happening while I was driving and I have to pull over or the time we were in disney world and I had to stop and collapse on the sidewalk. I went to the ER one night, after much convincing from my family, and they ruled out gallstones and didn't have an answer for me. I tried elimination diets to no avail. I would get it from eating pizza to eating oatmeal.
After may, the pain started to ease. Since about June or July of 2007, I started to only get the pain once a month and it lasts a couple days. I notice that around that time, I get really severe mid-back pain. Which I thought was maybe kidney stones or a uti but those were ruled out. I also notice that I get really clear, mucousy, glue-like discharge (like I got when I lost my mucous plug), so, I'm thinking that means I'm ovulating. The time of the month I get this is 2 weeks before my period starts.
I finally got in to see a doc. and she said it could possibly be OB but it might be gastro. So, we are starting with gastro. first to rule that out.
A little history on myself:
I have really bad pms. I have always had really bad cramping since I first got my period. It gets to the point that I can't walk sometimes. BC didn't seem to help and I'm no longer taking the pill, as I don't feel comfortable with it for other reason.
I have a history of ovarian cysts. I had one rupture several years ago. Two months ago, I had a bloody cyst that was leaking out. Oddly enough, the month that happened, I didn't have my stomach or back problems. But this month (right now) I sure am having them. ughh
My periods since I had my daughter have been really irregular. Sometimes, I get it twice a month, sometimes it's a week or two late. I have also had clots coming out during my period.
So, here's my question: those of you who have dealt with endometritis, does this sound like what it is or is it "left over" from when I had it post-delivery?? or is it something completely different??
I just want an answer and some relief. I know it only happens a couple days every month, so, I can probably just live with it. But I still want to know what's going on.
