Can anyone help me out please? I do a lot of spinning and knitting and since I am right handed, I do use my right hand a lot. I have noticed that I start to suffer from a certain numbness in my right hand, which radiating from my shoulder. What is this? It goes away when I stop knitting, but I would hate to give up my hobby. Do you have any suggestions for me?

That sounds like Repetitive Stress Syndrome to me! You know, the same thing that causes the infamous "mouse hand" that computer users often get. I am certain a lot of the movements you make are similar as well. Perhaps you could try resting your elbow on something while you knit. Changing the exact movement you make might have some impact.
