I had a vaginal hysterectomy Nov 2011. I felt great after except for left sided pain that I was told was normal by my surgeon, then I was told it was muscle skelital pain at a later ER visit when the pain became worse. I then had a bout of uncontrolled high blood pessure 200/100's which I already did have hypertension controlled by medication but my doc then increased my meds and added more, checked my renal arteries by ultrasound and I was told the ultrasound was fine. Just recently during an MRI for some back pain the tech noticed I had severe problem with my left Kidney and got a picture and I followed up with my regular doc, now I have seen a nephrologist and a uroligist, after several more tests, days off work and a surgical proceedure I found out I have about 5% function in that kidney and it was caued by my ureter being cauterize or clamped during the hyster. I also found out the ultrasound I had to look for renal artery stenosis during the first 6 weeks after my hyster did show I had some hydronephrosis then which I was never informed. I don't want other women have this type of loss. I don't want to have to "suck up" all the medical bills or lost time from work plus I travel out of town to see the urologist who would like to follow me closely as there is a mildly complex cyst in my right kidney. Do I have any kind of case here

Hello matti... I definitely know you have a case here! The surgeon damaged your ureter and caused your kidney to fail. Then the ultrasound that did detect your problem but was ignored adds to your case. You need to get a lawyer and begin proceedings for the lawsuit. You shouldn't have to pay for the extra medical bills and also you should be compensated for the pain you had to deal with unnecessarily and the lost time from work. I believe you will win this case easily. Good luck!
Has anyone reading this forum posting know of anyone who has sued due to negligence of the surgeon or hospital staff?
