My sister have had an accident the other day, she fell and unfortunately, hit the floor with the back of her head. Luckily, she feels just fine, but still we are all worried that there might be some consequences. I mean she did hit very hard. Anyway, she talked t a doctor and he said that the only thing left would be spinal tap. What kind of procedure could that be?

Spinal tap is a part of a diagnostic procedure where doctor extracts the cerebrospinal fluid from a patient's spine. It is also called lumbar puncture. This is done to investigate infections, possible brain bleeding, causes of sudden seizures, headache reasons etc. As for cerebrospinal fluid, it is a substance that surrounds the brain completely and spinal cord also.
