Hello.
There can be various reasons for a lump under the nipple, and while some causes may be benign, others could be more concerning. One possible explanation could be a condition called gynecomastia, which is the development of glandular tissue in the male breast. Gynecomastia can cause a firm or rubbery lump beneath the nipple. It is a common and usually harmless condition, but it's still important to have it assessed by a healthcare professional.
However, there are other potential causes for a lump under the nipple that may require medical attention. These include breast infections, cysts, fibroadenomas (non-cancerous breast tumors), or, in rare cases, breast cancer. It's worth noting that breast cancer can occur in men, although it is less common than in women.
To determine the cause of the lump, a healthcare professional will likely perform a physical examination and may recommend further tests such as imaging studies (like mammography or ultrasound) or a biopsy if necessary. It's crucial not to delay seeking medical advice and to discuss any concerns you have with a healthcare professional.
