morphine side effects on a newborn

First of all why was the baby on morphine? Did something terrible happen during the delivery?  Or it was just that the mother took the epidural shoot to relieve her pain during the delivery and now there is some kind of consequences for her and the baby?

And giving morphine to the baby is usually related with the post-operative procedures and some serious conditions. Is this case with your baby? Was he or she undergoing some procedure and for pain relief the baby was giving morphine for two weeks?

If you provide some more information maybe it would be easier to answer your question because now it is very difficult to say anything. Let us know if everything is fine now and how did you resolve your problems if there were any.

 

Mine was on it for about 2 months. She came out screaming and they put her on it because she would not stop screaming. They did tons of tests but found nothing and guessed it must be something neurological like her pain reception . I had to bring her home and slowly reduce her amounts. She went thru withdraw at hospital a couple of times because they tried to fast t reduce her. She is now 4 and I be leave she is slightly delayed and getting testing done on her. She learns at a slower pace that others of her age and is now in a special needs pre-k. I hated that they put her on that medication. I feel because of the withdraw at a young age it my have effected her learning / fine motor skills. She even got glasses at age 3.

The mother took heroine during her first 2 months of her pregnancy and then was on some sort of synthetic drug.
