Where an abscess has occurred on the site of a buried tooth root which is fused to the bone, what is the treatment?

Usually the only treatment for that is removing the tooth, the souce of the infection and cleaning out the area....its definately a surgical procedure and will cost more than a normal extraction due to the need for irrigation and possiably mediated rinses. You will probably need to even be on antibiotics for 7-10 days afterwards. Depending on the severity of the abcess they might have to leave it open to allow drainage for a few days.
