I've had my THD surgery in 12/15 due to bleeding, swelling and pain over a period of time. About a week or two After having the surgery around 1am in the morning while asleep I woke up with an urge to use the restroom, as I sat I had a strong gas and then a lot of dark blood all over the bowl. This drew some concern so I went back to bed and about 3am I had another urge, again the same result with clots of blood all over. I call my doctor after hour hotline and one of her associates said its nothing to be alarmed about and schedule an appointment to see him within that week. He was not my regular doctor she was on vacation that week. Anyways the schedule another THD surgery 2/16. It's now 8/16 and I'm still having a lot of pain, oozing and mussel spasm with slight blood on stools. They are talking about another surgery. I am getting a 2nd opinion at this time and I've not returned to work since 12/15 from the first surgery.
This is NOT always a 1,2,3 case as they disclose it to be. It has been hell all these months unable to sit properly, use the restroom without pain and the uncertainty as to what is really going on

I'm not sure about all of the positive reviews I have been reading about the THD procedure, but at 61 years of age and in excellent health, including working out with a trainer three times a week, I think the treatment has been worse than the condition.. Unable to urinate without sitting in a warm tub full of water, extreme gastro and anal pain every 30 minutes or so. A hot poker definitely comes to mind. I put off an overseas business trip to have the procedure and was assured I could make the next trip in 10 days. Admittably, it has only been three days since the procedure, but if a miracle doesn't occur within the next couple of days, I think recovery may very well be quite protracted. Sorry to be so negative, but all of the injuries, collectively, I have inflicted on myself in extreme sports doesn't hold a candle to this recovery.

What did your doctors say? I wasn't on the op....yet. In my country it is very expensive. I don't have the money yet. So everybody...tell us everything that doctors "forget" to say.

Jones here, had THD and the plexy done last Thur. Like others have stated, I could not really go anywhere without having to constantly go push things back in. So, my life was miserable. After several surgeons, I finally got to someone that I trusted. To make things more complex, I am on warfarin because of previous PE's.

Surgery - Thur 2pm. When I woke up at 4pm, extreme pain in my prostate area. Figured out real quickly the importance of IV ibuprofen. Spent the night in the hospital. Walked all night. Trying to avoid a clotting issue. Really didn't feel bad at all once I began the IV ibuprofen.
Day 1 - Friday - thought this wasn't gonna be so bad. Minimal pain. Checked out of hospital, kept taking ibuprofen.
Day 2 - Sat - the sh*t hit the fan! Lots of pain. Doc has me on hydro, flomax, neurontin, and ibuprofen. Also has me drinking mirolax 1-2 per day.
My biggest problem at this point was the pain around my prostate. I couldn't pee. But the pressure made it feel like I had to go constantly. This was far worse than the anal pain. Fortunately I figured out that the ibuprofen significantly helped the swelling around the area and decreased this pain. I'm also trying to take as little hydro as I can, but blood pressure is high and they keep telling me to take it due to the pain causing the high blood pressure. Later in the day lots of pressure in my stomach so I took a stool stimulant to force a bowel movement. Even though there was pain, it felt good to get that first one out of the way. Also, I am taking like 20 baths/showers a day as it is really helping with the pain, and helping me pee! Blood pressure 150/100.
Day 3 - Sun - Feeling better, but still a lot of pressure in the prostate area. More so when the ibuprofen is wearing off! Pooping out a lot of blood. Going through waves of feeling really good, to really bad... fast. Settling on a consistent low dose of hydro and it is helping. Trying to keep that balanced with the mirolax to avoid constipation.
Day 4 - Mon - much like Sun. No real improvement. Pain is not that bad (rotating between 5mg and 2.5 mg hydro every 6-7 hours). Worst part for me still is the difficulty in peeing and the pain around the prostate, and the constant feeling of having to poop. Blood pressure is now averaging 140/90. Also started back on blood thinning (lovenox). So we will see what effect this begins to have on the bleeding.

The good news so far is even with the sometimes violent BM's, no prolapsing! At times, I feel really good, like I could workout, etc. Other times, I can't leave the bathtub. I've also adjusted how/when I take certain medications and that has helped me feel not so groggy all the time. BM do burn like hell, but just hop in the tub after and all is good. I do also have to step in the shower to pee most of the time still, but that is getting a little better.

Jones here..

Day 5 - Tue - pretty much the same as Monday. No change in anything.
Day 6 - Wed - Starting to feel a little better. BM was good and all the pain overall has improved today. Also started warfarin in the morning and I could tell there was a little more blood in the evening.
Day 7 - Thur - Best day so far, by far. Really good BM in the morning. Pain in the prostate area has improved as has the frequent urge to have to go poop. Still on on the same dosages of meds but am going to start tapering down my ibuprofen some tomorrow.

So far, still no prolapse which is great! BM have been much faster and easier (before surgery it would take me 30 min each morning to finish my poo) Currently, it takes about 5 min! Pain has gotten much better on the BM. Not as much burning. I also meant to say that I also am occasionally using some lidicane cream on the outside anal area. At this point, my main concern is the bleeding as I continue to try and get my INR to 2.0 on warfarin and taper off the Lovenox.

I am a 38 year old woman who has suffered from haemmoroids for the last 9 years due to pregnancy. In the last 2 months i had a major flare up leading to significant pain and not being able to leave the house during the time with a fear of having to go the the bathroom away from home. I have had to work from home during this time as well. During this time i conducted all the necessary research and found out about both the Hal-rar and tst-33 procedures preformedby dr gold. I went to see him and he explained that to i was too far gone to undergo the Hal-rar procedure and recommend the Tst-33 instead. He also discovered that i had a significant fissure that would neef to be repaired using a botox injection. I have just undergone the tst-33 procedure performed by Dr Darren Gold on wednesday 5.10.2016. To anyone looking at undergoing haemmoroid removal this is the way to go. The procedure took around an hour and half and i felt little to no discomfort after this. Admittedly, i was afraid to go to the bathroom to have a bowel motion after the surgery, but as per dr golds advice i waited until i really needed to go to avoid straining and for the first time in 2 months i actually went with no pain whatsoever just some minor tenderness in the area afterwards ( i had my first bowel motion 2 days after the surgery with the help of a high fibre diet, stool softeners, minor pain killers and lots of water). It was odd and amazing to have gone to the bathroom and not have any prolapsed haemmoroids afterca motion which has been the case for the last 9 years. If you are looking into haemmoroid removal surgery i would highly recommend you go and speak to Dr Gold. Not only is he well informed about all the various types of procedures he is proactive in recommending the least invasive and painless of procedures not to mention an excellent bedside manner. Please do not let the pain override you doing something about it (as i did) get it sorted and know that you have options out there rather than the traditional painful options which are too commonly performed.

Hi, can you please tell me what is tst-33 procedure?

Hi. It's a procedure which involves ligating the blood supply to the hemmoroids then making stitches in the lining of your bowel, then stitching your hemmoroids into the lining, which eventually kills them of f as it cuts the blood supply off to the roids. There is very little information on the Internet about it but if you look up tst-33 hemmoroid tteatment you can find birth a real and animated you tube clip on it that shows how is done (haven't viewed the real one ....don't have the stomach for that). Hope this helps. Trust me when i say i if you need to have a procedure done and this procedure is suitable to your condition than this is the way to go. Good luck to you

HI ,
I too live in Orange County, CA and have terrible internal and external roids for years. There is one doctor in Laguna Hills certified to do the THD procedure. I have had the banding procedure a couple of times, and it was not really painful, but it was temporary. So good luck everyone and I am going to see this doc in Orange county, CA as soon as I can. I am also going to look him up on Yelp and see the reviews first. I am a nurse and very careful who takes care of my family and myself. Good luck to all of you.

Hi, my situation sounds almost identical to yours. How long was your recovery? Would I be able to run around after children after a week or so?
