Hello guys!
I know something is really wrong with my friend. She is starting to loose weigh, she has beautiful body, I mean she is tall and thin and looks like a model. But, by my opinion she is too thin. And now comes the spookiest part… I caught her stuffing her fingers in her mouth…she wanted to throw up everything she has eaten!!! I think my friend is bulimic. She is very good in school, but she has problems at home, because she is dating a man that is 10 years older (she is 17 and he is 27) and her parents are really against that… How can I help her?

Hey,
You are a really good friend, but there is little to be done from your side. Firstly bulimia is firstly a psychological and then physical disease. Firstly she overeats and then she goes vomiting. This is somehow a consequence of being not satisfied with the “position” in life. Besides all this young women see these thin and tall and beautiful models on TV and all want to be like them… Consequences can be dramatic!
However, if I were you, I would try to tell her, that I know for her disease and bulimia is a disease!!! And warn her how dangerous it is. I would offer her help, but I must tell you this is not an easy path, and above all, she needs help form a expert. Of course she needs support from you, from her family and her boyfriend, but mostly she needs medical help!!!! She needs a therapy and she needs to learn to love herself again!
You are a great friend! I wish there were more like you! Best wishes to you and your friend!

How is your friend now? It's been a long time since you posted here, but I've only read your post some days ago. Only now I can say something.
Helping bulimics and anorectics is really hard work because they will struggle against you and won't listen to you at least for a long while. I know it for myself. But everyone who knows somebody with some kind of these illnesses must at least try more than once to help him/her, because they are in a serious risks...

best regards
