My husband has been diagnosed with mild menieres disease. He has had 2 dizzy episodes in 2 years, and suffers with a'fullness' in his head.
He is a traffic officer in the british police and will loose his job because of this.
He is really well and is on no medication. He does not drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, take illegal drugs, avoids chocolate and caffiene has no processed foods, or added salt.
His hearing in one ear has deteriated rapidly in the last 5 months which has lost him his police motorbike licence.
He feels really well, can hear well too, just fails the hearing test!
We are desperate for help, Occupational health are governed by the home office rules who do not look at each individual case, we have not received a lot of help from them and our ENT consultant has not been asked for his opinion or for copies of notes.
Please help, is there anything we can do to help my husband keep his job.
He really is well and would not endanger himself or the public if he was not.

Menieres is unpredictable. No added salt is often not good enough, a lot of times you have to rinse food items to get rid of sodium, and there are foods with built in sodium. Balance is a big issue, and a motorbike doesn't combine well. Additionally, motorbike sounds can probably add to the problem. My doctor had me taking a large dose of Vitamin C every day and I think it does help.
